  1. A pretty okay night considering my low standards and the outside competition. ::]:: And yeah, I did watch the Game 7. I missed out on the first hour of Toonami in favor of that and finishing up Tsuredure Children.
  2. The Ancient Magus Bride: Those Awaiting a Distant Star Part 2 Puella Magi Madoka Magica #6 [the days are getting blacker]
  3. Personally, I think Toonami should have some online presence, and the stream is good enough for that. Giving it a paid(?) streaming service like a much smaller Crunchyroll would be a direct contradiction of what it is as a brand. And yes, they did have Jetstream way back in the day, but when they did it, streaming as a primary form of viewing was just a glimmer in the eye of the guys delivering Netflix DVDs to everyone's mailboxes. Also, in regards to what the hell is up about the broadcast rights vs. streaming, I have no answer. Do the companies licensing out these shows require Toonami to get everything in one shot? I guess so, considering that the Kill la Kill dub has only ever streamed on the Internet through the [adult swim] site. Maybe Toonami would have less of a problem losing shows to Netflix if they didn't require a full package. So they could still show things on TV and not be considered competition, and everyone would be happy. But I don't know. I don't know at all. |:: Now, this whole idea with the stream... is kind of dumb, honestly. If I was genuinely interested in what they're playing, I'd rather watch it on my own terms, and preferably in better quality. Presenting it as a marathon means only the die-hard Toonami fans are going to appreciate it, because a lot of people don't have the time to sit down and watch it all in order, in two-hour shifts, with no breaks other than maybe pausing it and hoping the web client doesn't go kaboom. There should be an easier way to get your fix of this stuff. And it's not going to have to follow the Toonami broadcast every week, owing to how few people see it (at least right now), but they could at least play more newer shows, and maybe others Toonami doesn't currently have rerunning, like IGPX.
  4. So we have GiTS 2ND GiG on the stream right now to tie into its on-air return, but it looks awful. I guess they went back to the original Shit-D tapes. That's poor management even by my low standards. ohno
  5. Wait a second... did someone see something Space Dandy-related before the show started? Oh, so it was for the Blu-ray set. As in, the new one Funi is putting out. But I'd like to know if this was a new ad or was based off of something they already did.
  6. Man, Poke's been kicking my ass at this lately. :robotP WorldEnd #10 and #11 Tsuredere Children #11 and #12 (END) Shrine of the Morning Mist #1
  7. Whoever gets any theatrical movie on cable is based off of predetermined studio deals. GiTS was from Paramount Pictures, so that means it'll show up on... Epix, I guess. Yeah. My family has all the major pay cable places, so I'd be set.
  8. TV show featuring Polnareff in a Trans Am. Here I go! Here I go again on my own... :ghost:
  9. Well, I actually managed to deliver on the promise. It is egregiously late, but I guess nobody would ever mind. The iDOLM@STER Episode 3: "Everything Stems from the Courage to Take the First Step"
  10. Yes, clearly we need to "stop the bleeding" of a lineup that expanded an entire hour with most of these shows and JoJo's is apparently doing okay. Do you all realize how stupid this sounds? The numbers may not add up, but in the end, I'll gladly take the word of god if only because it means I won't participate in inglorious arguments.
  11. That did not answer the question.
  12. Well, this seems to be a concentrated nuke uh... stream of dirty bombs aimed at not just Toonami, but the entire American industry at large. And you're going to be forced to buy in if you even tangentially like the medium.
  13. Honestly, I doubt S2 would've rated any better if aired that way. And the idea in general would be very hard for Funi to pull off when they already have a dozen other SimulDubs per season to produce. They did do a short fuse dub for My Hero Academia's recent season, but that only lasted for a few months, and then it was back to normal. And on another note, the rerun has finished. Yay. I'll make sure to bump my GiTS thread next week.
  14. I don't really see a problem in airing something unrelated. ::]:: It's interesting that DeMarco didn't specify "we won't be airing a new movie", though. I've never seen this thing, so I'll be recording it when the time comes.
  15. I'll be getting some extra sleep. ::spin::
  16. Well, you know that there are many good people on both sides of the debate. I think DeMarco's being paranoid, but it's probably due to a lack of self-care.
  17. I have to admit that I wasn't too crazy about this story at first. I thought it was about trying to rekindle the "Weird Japan" moniker for no good reason, and this show could stand as awesome on its own merits. But, in the end, it's a prime example of a rare heartwarming story in today's world. For that, I guess I'm grateful. Grape-kun can hang out with his waifu in heaven and not have to witness Kemono Friends S2 be bastardized by a different staff. B}
  18. That was probably the point. Food Wars did the "shonen anime with food" thing so much better, and without having to shoehorn a particular genre into it. Also, it made me giggle when I remembered people wanted this on Toonami at one point.
  19. This thread now looks like a madman talking to himself about irrelevant things. -_'
  20. If they could somehow to go Aniplex and ask them for Birdy the Mighty: Decode, that would be fucking awesome. As for this bit of breaking news... eh, really? I guess since it uses a graphic of bearded Jack, it'll be just Season 5 again. Marathons are supposed to save money, but them using a show they own makes this one ring even cheaper than usual. What was wrong with using JoJo's?
  21. Yup. I guess they finally decided to crack "Mother To Be-Sa" out of the vaults, since whatever she'd do as an indentured servant (it's lewd, apparently.. the episode is rated TV-MAS) just isn't bad enough for 2017. The geohell tends to have a positive effect on other things. I'm sure a lot of people would ask, since this episode is getting a first look during the marathon, why can't "Boston"? Well, I guess considering that episode was leaked after already being well known and infamous, not to mention real life circumstances that would make it genuinely awkward for its namesake city to watch, I'd guess they're still squeamish. Maybe in 2021 or so, it'll see the light... officially. In the meantime, catch this one at either 1:15A or 4:45.
  22. I just think this is... sad. Like, how far down have we degenerated to as a society for this to happen? It's all just, this was in the show and it became a meme, so I like it. This has to do with stuff at the far end of the table, so it's bad, and we might die from it. But I never knew I could even stop these things. What the hell? Everything is so black and white now, with added anti-intellectualism. At least I could potentially enjoy BBQ sauce mixed with added teriyaki spice.
  23. Well, I guess the people who say JoJo's is spoiling the sheets have somewhat of a point. But DeMarco still says the show is doing okay... owo You know, this was a pretty packed night of TV; college football, TBS airing playoff baseball, TNT airing Star Wars movies, and a hurricane. I'm happy the schedule held its own. Even Al himself was affected this time, so it must feel especially sweet.
  24. In a better world, we could actually thank Toei for getting people to stop caring about the ratings. But that's probably never going to happen. whut
  25. Al did update the thread already, but... yeah, Dragon Ball Super on the marathon stream this week. #21 to #25, and I have and nobody here has idea if they'll advance any further. At least this show fares better than HxH in regards to airing recent arcs.
