  1. Wha... oh, come on now. They seriously waited until 10 days out of the new schedule to announce Bebop!? Was there any reason why they couldn't do it earlier? If not, it's just horrible management by the Toonami staff. I was genuinely concerned about this. Now, if they have taken the lower numbers into account and are expanding yet again, I guess things are all right. We should probably cool it with how Dragon Ball Super is killing Toonami for at least a little while. It's not a step up from our predecessors whining about how the original block was killed by Naruto filler.
  2. You'd better hope he's back within the year so we can spare all the complaining. And regardless, I hope his mind's in a better place than... well, anyone working on Toonami right now. Especially DeMarco.
  3. Knight's & Magic #9 Skirt no Naka wa Kedamono Deshita. #9 Tsuredere Children #2 and #3 Girls und Panzer #10 to #12 (END)
  4. Well, I hate to say it, but Naruto: Shippuden can't leave Toonami after Pain ends if it performs like this. The show has a fandom, and I don't know where they are, but they're crazy enough to exist and get up at 2:00A to watch their show and not Lupin, which must count for something. Now... bring on the emergency replacement show. It's not gonna be Re:ZERO or The Ancient Magus Bride, but by all means please make sure it isn't more than a year old, and not necessarily good.
  5. Okay... for as much as I want to go into the typical spiel that we don't need to see the action block's ratings, I can't help but think that [adult swim] is doing this to itself. I've seen many shades of 2014 in how poorly the schedule has been managed. For one thing, such a premiere as grandoise and all-reaching as Dragon Ball Super was promoted only a month in advance (as opposed to 5 1/2 months for DBZ Kai, one of the longest for any show on the new Toonami between announcement and premiere), and then they gave it probably the worst deal possible by cannibalizing their own channel space for premieres. One Piece got removed just two weeks after its announcement, which was even worse. And then they somehow decided to air a month of Samurai Jack reruns despite it already having been proven from AoT S1 why it's a bad idea. And then they shunted it all down to 11:30 for three weeks before putting Toonami's start time back at 11:00 again. That just confuses viewers. You already saw what happened when they did a similar move last year. And now we still don't know the 9/9 schedule despite it being less than two weeks out, which is unacceptable. If they decide to do another major schedule revamp despite that you could probably get better ratings based on changing the shows, this would be pouring gasoline on the fire, and honestly, I guess the block deserves any ethreal punishments that occur. DeMarco needs to stop having a mental breakdown over politics... and drop the smugness, while he's at it, and actually start listening to people. This is one of those times where I think another "Manipulate the Manual" event would be good for the block. Oh, and stop being such a doormat when it comes to DB Super. Somewhat obviously, the Toei deal wasn't worth it.
  6. So I guess were just going to assume they jumped ahead on AoT for ratings convenience? Honestly, it isn't very plausible, but I feel like a move so trivial and sudden is cause to expect that something big is coming soon. Crazy crackpot theory: AoT finishes on 9/9, and then Toonami airs a world premiere dub of The Ancient Magus' Bride at 12:30 on 9/16, three weeks becore the Japanese run.

  8. Take the future to your hands. Mold it, shape it, get all the bad stuff out, maybe put it on in the background so it can air its grievances while you do the hot stuff, and then take it out to show the world. Tonight might mark the beginning of a new dream, if you can handle this shit. And then there's four more episodes left in the tank.
  9. The other words of this monologue have been lost to history.

  11. I personally thought Tokyo Ghoul was decent until the end of the first season, and then it degenerated into a gigantic ball of nihilism and misanthropy I try to avoid in 2017. That show's destiny has since become trapped as background noise while I play The Binding of Isaac. To compare, I had mildly similar problems with Deadman Wonderland. I actually didn't care for it in the end because it went from something that was not very good, but you couldn't take your eyes away from (especially during the Hummingbird fight) to a generic shonen battle anime with built-in fatalism. Dimension W gets a shrug from me. Maybe I'll look for it again some time and give it another watch, but I wasn't even a fan of the parts of the series I could actually comprehend. Beware the Batman is far from the best Batman series, though I actually found it decent for what it wanted to be. Watch me end up reflexively hating it once I see another one, however. :robotP My Sword Art Online opinion is as follows: Aincrad, good; Alfheim, bad; Phantom Bullet, okay, and it might be the best arc if you remove the rapey parts; Excalibur, boring but competent, so I'll give it that, and Mother's Rosario, almost a war crime. Finally, I haven't seen enough episodes of DB Super to rate it, but I'll probably come up with something after Goku Black happens.
  12. Funimation will probably be the de facto distributor if it gets dubbed. I can't guarantee this, however, since Viz recently got Mr. Osomatsu out of NOWHERE and will be dubbing it themselves.
  13. Mediocrity is the name of the game. And besides, nobody will care if the block is only two-and-a-half hours again.
  14. Watch it be for a Hellsing Ultimate rerun.
  15. The Stardust Crusaders anime actually took a break halfway through, and I feel like the Toonami broadcast could copy that. In fact, maybe that's how you fit FLCL 2 in.
  16. For ratings predictions, I'll be a little generous: 900K for DBZ Kai, 750K for JoJo's, and Outlaw Star will be low, but at least 400K.
  17. This weekend belongs to the shorts, I'd say. Some of it's to clear out the backlog. Nora, Princess, and Stray Cat #1 to #6 Knight's & Magic #8 Nyanko Days #8 to #12 (END)
  18. Birdy the Mighty: Decode 02 OVA... ~Between You and Me~ Birdy the Mighty Final Thoughts: The iDOLM@STER Preview: So I got all of that done, and I can now break free of these archaic text blocks. See you people soon enough, and in the meantime, let's all never stop striving for a better world. [and I'll be joining you there]
  19. For those not in the know, they call that "pan and scan". Though [as] tends to ignore it and do the 16:9 stretch for their old shows. At least it stopped for Toonami around the time Cowboy Bebop first aired in HD.
  20. Birdy the Mighty: Decode OVA (END) Log Horizon #1 (dubbed) [750th post]
  21. It could also be grey, you know. The first especially new episode of this season, and the first one where our heroes are actually leaving to do the thing they... well, you know: Go to Egypt. But who knows if they'll actually get there soon. Enjoy all of this, even if I'm not around for it. As always, no flaming in this thread, nor most others, since it's what Luuv always wanted.
  22. I support doing individual threads for each episode of this show. It's been so long since the original Toonami airing that, arguably, most of the people watching it are an entirely new audience, including me.
  23. That's actually scheduled for Sunday.
