That was probably the point. Food Wars did the "shonen anime with food" thing so much better, and without having to shoehorn a particular genre into it. Also, it made me giggle when I remembered people wanted this on Toonami at one point.

You'd think they'd announce something soon...
Blatch replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
If they could somehow to go Aniplex and ask them for Birdy the Mighty: Decode, that would be fucking awesome. As for this bit of breaking news... eh, really? I guess since it uses a graphic of bearded Jack, it'll be just Season 5 again. Marathons are supposed to save money, but them using a show they own makes this one ring even cheaper than usual. What was wrong with using JoJo's? -
Yup. I guess they finally decided to crack "Mother To Be-Sa" out of the vaults, since whatever she'd do as an indentured servant (it's lewd, apparently.. the episode is rated TV-MAS) just isn't bad enough for 2017. The geohell tends to have a positive effect on other things. I'm sure a lot of people would ask, since this episode is getting a first look during the marathon, why can't "Boston"? Well, I guess considering that episode was leaked after already being well known and infamous, not to mention real life circumstances that would make it genuinely awkward for its namesake city to watch, I'd guess they're still squeamish. Maybe in 2021 or so, it'll see the light... officially. In the meantime, catch this one at either 1:15A or 4:45.

Didn't get the Szechuan Sauce? You're in luck...
Blatch replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I just think this is... sad. Like, how far down have we degenerated to as a society for this to happen? It's all just, this was in the show and it became a meme, so I like it. This has to do with stuff at the far end of the table, so it's bad, and we might die from it. But I never knew I could even stop these things. What the hell? Everything is so black and white now, with added anti-intellectualism. At least I could potentially enjoy BBQ sauce mixed with added teriyaki spice. -

Well, I guess the people who say JoJo's is spoiling the sheets have somewhat of a point. But DeMarco still says the show is doing okay... owo You know, this was a pretty packed night of TV; college football, TBS airing playoff baseball, TNT airing Star Wars movies, and a hurricane. I'm happy the schedule held its own. Even Al himself was affected this time, so it must feel especially sweet. -

In a better world, we could actually thank Toei for getting people to stop caring about the ratings. But that's probably never going to happen. whut -
Toonami Weekly Marathon Stream 2017 Archive & Updates
Blatch replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Al did update the thread already, but... yeah, Dragon Ball Super on the marathon stream this week. #21 to #25, and I have and nobody here has idea if they'll advance any further. At least this show fares better than HxH in regards to airing recent arcs. -
Trunks Thread 19.1: A New New Frontier
Blatch replied to PokeNirvash's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
So onto this week's Toonami... I mainly focused on JoJo's and the Gundam IBO premiere, though I did tune in partway through DBZ Kai. Buu somehow morphing into a hot jock was hilarious. For the former of former set, good times. Shows can be pretty formulaic but still a lot of fun, as Stardust Crusaders has shown. This is probably the most insanely contrived road trip in the history of anime, and I have to wonder how deep DIO's bench goes. But it's all in good fun. The pig at the beginning seemed to just be thrown in so the audience could assume they were the stand user, but then they brought in two new guys who look pretty awesome. I like Hol Horse, especially for his dub voice, magical guns, and even magical-er Stand bullets. And as for Centerfold, I have to tell you... if attacking via mirrors as well as any sort of reflection isn't an existing trope, it should be. I like the idea in general. -

Either the guy who uploads a lot of Toonami promos or this somewhat weak hurricane that became a tropical storm. I've definitely seen worse. -
Hunter × .hack Episode 69 Discussion!!
Blatch replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
You know, for as much as the comparisons to video game anime have been played up, this arc hasn't really felt that way, at least to me. I mean, there is the card collecting aspect to it all, but Greed Island is located in the real world. And that makes the whole "die in the game, die in real life" thing hilariously redundant. B} -

One thing you have to remember is that the majority of these shows are at least well liked by fans. And I guess they all did okay, but DeMarco could be lying to us. JoJo's Part 3 is a small step down from the first two in terms of my personal enjoyment, but I think it's actually the highlight of Toonami for right now. HxH hasn't gelled with me for a while (I have to get serious about it before Chimera Ant starts up, at least), and I guess Lupin is okay, but it's not the kind of show I enjoy watching during Toonami. I'd rather see something else in its slot. -_' I'll give Gundam IBO S2 a chance, even if I wasn't too keen on the first. It at least promises to be a very chaotic show with tons of meaningful drama and character deaths. -

I think Toonami could stand to move in both directions. Get the people what they want in newer shows sans Dragon Ball, but carve out an hour or so in the back for those lesser-known anime. And I wouldn't mind seeing some past Broadcast Dubs on the block. Basically, whatever is more likely that people haven't seen, I think'd be good. -

Black Clover would probably rate well, but I have no desire to see it on the block. I guess it's the most generic shonen to ever get this popular. shithead -

Toonami Weekly Marathon Stream 2017 Archive & Updates
Blatch replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
That wasn't my point. You still don't seem to realize how few people watch this stream as opposed to anything else [as] does. I do somewhat agree with your point that they could make it line up with the on-air block more often, but it's not likely since that effort is more likely to go into other parts of their streaming empire. On the other hand, ask me what it's like to fight for a cause that is already irrational. -

Show me one other person who actually watches the stream to get refreshed on a show. The people who run it certainly can't, which explains the lack of effort. -_' -

FUNimation's fucking up their dubs with political bullshit again
Blatch replied to PokeNirvash's topic in Anime & Manga
Sorry. whut I do agree that political satire does not show up in Japanese cartoons nearly as much. Mr. Osomatsu has a wide-reaching reference pool to justify the scene, which I do think is pretty funny if only for one of the boys' exasperated "OBAMAHH!" yell.
