At this point, I would accept most additions, new or old, that aren't long-running shonen. Even Bebop would be nice because I could DVR the two episodes I missed from the last time they played it. [y'all need real relaxation hours]

Dragonball Z Kai Marathon on April 11th
Blatch replied to The1gairon's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Who says they have to replace every slot with reruns because there's nothing to air? I'm sure they can go to Funi and Sentai for catalogue titles. Honestly, having the block go back to airing older, lesser-known shows would be a good way to entice me to watch it again. -

Crunchyroll reveals first batch of “Crunchyroll Originals”
Blatch replied to Jman's topic in Anime & Manga
Well, her McCain tweet was pretty good. 🙃 I may have no intention of seeing HGS, but at least I also have no ill will towards it. Going forward, any observations of the haters I'll see will probably be when someone else is dunking on them. -
The virus is definitely more deadly in older people, plus those who have compromised immune systems. Cancelling the Olympics over this would be objectively pretty cool, but that's as far as I'll go with this. It's egregious to celebrate the outbreak of a disease that could kill any number of people.

Crunchyroll reveals first batch of “Crunchyroll Originals”

Not me, but I am mildly surprised it wasn't exiled to HBO Max like Close Enough. -
Heh, good point. I mostly said that because I got major Epstein vibes from the secret society. 🤧

Japan continues to be creepy bastards with their Made In Abyss products

The movie they just released was probably made that way because of content concerns. As for the OP... wow. That's: a) Hilarious, b) Fucked up, and c) Hilariously fucked up. -

"The Schedule Adjustment is great for toonami and it's fans"
Blatch replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I already kind of feel that way... but at the same time, I don't know if my indifference with Toonami and its community is because I'm unwilling to put in the effort to catch up the shows and interact with the community, my stubborn nature when it comes to watching anything new in general, or even mental health problems. It really sucks. Then there's the fact that this community feels stagnant, with seemingly fewer people coming here than ever. I wish I knew what I could do to help. 😕 As for the shortened schedule, it's going to be better for you if you don't care about an hour of reruns that can easily be watched elsewhere (save TPN, but that dub will soon be available on Blu-ray and maybe streaming soon anyway). I don't have much else to say about it. I also don't think 2020 is going to be a "down year" for the block when we have two new co-productions scheduled for this year and at least four more in the works that'll premiere at some point. Maybe this means they won't focus as much effort into acquisitions outside of lengthy shonen, which was the case for 2017 and most of '18, but we should wait a few months to judge that. -
Well, having six new Toonami shows in production certainly assuages my fears. It doesn't make much sense that they're getting rid of an hour of reruns despite knowing about it ahead of time and slotting in different shows after the fact, but perhaps DeMarco still wanted them to get a partial run? Blade Runner and Uzumaki coming down the pike gives them a golden opportunity to advertise. Just throw some ads on TNT during the NBA playoffs saying "Hey world, anime is cool, and we've got some great new shows! Come on over and give them a try." And air them more than once, which was seemingly the case back when the FLCL sequels were being hyped.

This is pretty worrying. I actually think the worst part is the sudden deletion of an hour of reruns. Could they have at least let TPN finish all its episodes? This move gives the impression that the Toonami schedulers thing the ratings aren't good enough and they want immediate improvements, which goes against DeMarco's comments that the block has been doing fine and even better than ever at some points. I mean, I haven't heard him say that for a while, but I assume this has still been the case up to now. At least when the sudden cuts in 2015 took place, we still had a hype new show coming in. But we don't this time, and the next premiere slot doesn't open until April. It's a good thing the Toonami staff didn't put a negative spin on this news, because I'm sure us fans will be annoyed either way. 😬

Considering the murmurs I've heard about Sony not liking sexual content in various PlayStation games, I strongly think this is the case. And that stuff is cheesecake compared to this. I wasn't watching this show either, and while I briefly considered doing so as a result of the controversy (which is warranted), I decided I'm too cool for that. It's going to be interesting to see if any other licensors are able to acquire this, because there are probably lots of people who either ignored the show or had no idea who now want to stream it.

Futaba's Family Twins 29-41 And that's all of the released chapters, which I pounded out during winter break. I have to say, it's really strange to have read a manga that went on hiatus and might never return because the author prefers producing VTubers. This one is/was a really generic incest comedy, though, and I saw some of the plot beats coming from so far away that they were painful. I would only recommend it to anyone who's a Norio completionist or is kind of dumb. 😘

Oscar nominations are out, people predictably are upset
Blatch replied to Jman's topic in Movies & Television
Joker's situation is probably the result of a monkey's paw wish: a superhero movie is critically acclaimed, financially successful, and gets nominated for all the awards, but in exchange... you have to live in a society. As for the animated movies situation, I am very mildly disappointed but not surprised that no anime was nominated. And even if there were, it wouldn't be everything. I still remember the brouhaha over The Wind Rises getting snuffed out by Frozen some years ago. But in an amusing twist, the latter film's sequel isn't up for Best Animated Feature Film. -
I have no horse in this race, but... LOL. I wonder if they deathslotted it because they were actually scared by the bean mouth controversy. Now that I think of it, I wouldn't be shocked if this happens to High Guardian Spice as well. I wouldn't hate that one either, but there's no good reason to stick it on Crunchyroll.

Virtual-san Looking 9 to 12 Golden Kamuy S1E4 Somali and the Forest Spirit 1 Well, that felt good to finish off. For a show that was supposedly a look into the weird and wacky world of VTubers, it was disappointing to have most of the time be taken up by the same banal improvised talking-about-things segments every week. At least it was still fairly funny, and I liked Kerrin Slayer. 6/10.
