We often think the next internet will be virtual reality based. The matrix, essentially. It will "progress" to the point that no one will ever leave their 4x8 sleeping pod. We'll all just be avatars in an experience machine. Those of us on the right side of the wall, in any case.

No. That's kind of the point. We're more likely to get depressed from watching an anime that depicts life exactly as dismal and abrasive as it truly is. In part because life is so very dismal and abrasive, but also because why are We wasting Our time watching that?

There are lots of chemists that also do not give a shit about wood. There are also lots of non-chemists that do give a shit about wood. What is the relevance of these two subsets?
