  1. Okay. I need to weigh in on this for 2 reasons: 1. Some of this is a little misguided/Out-of-date 2. I helped my mom sell houses and help people make this decision a lot. Gas tankless does not require a second vent line. It IS prudent to have one, but not always up to code. Since your are using natural gas, the vent system is already built into line, so making another is redundant. Check your local building codes and with your local Fire Marshall, because they are the best resources. It’s all up to what state you are in. In the Midwest, you may need to do this. In Texas, nope. Water softener? Again, not necessary, in most cases. Water softeners are really only needed in super rural areas and areas that use well water. That is a completely unnecessary expense, especially since most municipal water supplies ADD softeners to water in the first place. Again, it’s down to where you live. You may have to do this is the Midwest, but in Texas, nope. Upgrading breakers and wiring? Again, not necessarily. It depends on how old your home is. If your home is less than 8-10 years old, you don’t really need to touch anything. Older than 15? Then, you’ll probably need the upgrade. This one comes down to age, and how much of a power vampire you are.
  2. THIS. THIS SHIT. THIS SHIT RIGHT HERE is why I don’t own a house. Fucking throwing pearls before swine and diamonds into a bottomless pit. If I get a house, I’m fucking RENTING, for THIS reason.

  9. No. I’m keeping my mouth shut. As much as I want to let my 2020 mood get the best of me, I would rather not piss of friends more. So yeah, I’ll just stay quiet.
  10. Sigh. You’re being difficult as Hell. Fine. Get them to fix it. Then, go tankless. It’s amazing. Downside: your electric/gas bill may go up.

  20. To answer the question at the end of this: Get the cheaper option, it's just as good. To answer the thread question: Because you are told to spend on it. Everything about weddings is jacked up to the maximum to take advantage of you. Trust me on this one. I'm a wedding DJ. The normal price I would charge for DJ services is literally jacked up about 500% or more for weddings. Why? It's called the "Wedding Tax". As your wedding DJ, there is a LOT I have to do, and you are paying for my time. If this wasn't a wedding, you'd spend a fraction of what you'd spend, and get the exact same quality. You're mostly paying for my time (and Asshole Fees, because you people are crazy about weddings). If I know you, I'll charge you normal DJ rates, because I know weddings are an expensive in endeavor. To give you an example, I normally charge about $100/hour for restaurants and most parties for DJing, and a 3 hour minimum. Of course, I'm willing to negotiate (within reason) to fit budget. For weddings, I charge about $700/hour, with a 3 hour minimum. I won't even take your phone call if you're not willing to spent at least $1000. Mostly because I want it to be worth my time. Especially with the trends going on in weddings now (which completely screw most DJs), because it makes it hard for us to power equipment. I also rely on these to pay my bills, so, that is another reason on weddings. Giving you a better idea:
