Have you ever been diagnosed with a mental disease...
GunStarHero replied to Skiles's topic in Free-For-All
No but I did get dangerously close to being sent to one of those gay conversion camps as per my father and a therapist he took me to. So there's that. -
If they were going the way of Sega then they would be releasing amazing consoles made with blood, sweet, and tears only to get destroyed by poor advertising and the juggernaut of video game consoles. (Poor Dreamcast, couldn't stand against the best selling console of all time: The Playstation 2. Not that previous efforts did much better anyways...)

Stuff like ketchup and ranch dressing go into the fridge, as do things like jellies and jams. Banana sauce, hoisin, oyster sauce, plum sauce, etc. go in the pantry. Soy sauce and chocolate/strawberry syrup goes in the fridge. Peanut butter and maple syrup in a plastic bottle go in the cabinet, but maple syrup in a glass bottle gets to go to the fridge. Granulated sugar stays outside the fridge but brown sugar goes in (mostly because I will use plain sugar much faster than any kind of brown sugar).

I was homeless for awhile back in late 2009 but I got myself out of that situation. If for whatever reason I was homeless again I doubt it would be for very long.

I remember the days of spawn killing my paycheck. Glad they're far behind me now.

Recently I've been making Italian tacos and adding spiced rum towards the end. I use beef with extra fat (eg. 70/30) so it soaks up the rum. The seasoning itself consists of salt, onion powder, garlic powder, rosemary leaves, thyme, granulated sugar, cumin, basil, and I will occasionally add cilantro or marjoram. Tortillas are flour and veggies are predominantly grilled bell peppers and onions.

Cooking, only to have someone come over with takeout
GunStarHero replied to André Toulon's topic in Free-For-All
One thing I didn't mention is that I move around a lot. So I've had quite a few different roommates in a short span of time. And since I'd like to stay somewhere as long as I can (or need to) I don't want to act like the kitchen is my domain when I'm using it, I just expect common courtesy and have said as much when I start cooking. Some people respected it, some did not. Had roommates that just let me do my thing while they sit back and let me cook our meal in peace. On the flipside, I had intrusive roommates that would set up shop right beside me on the stove top I was already using. Plus I'm a chef so having a crowded kitchen is something I'm quite used to anyways. But! Can't expect everyone to be respectful or courteous, and that's just how it goes. I mean, 20-somethings and teenagers living away from maw and paw for the first time aren't exactly known for their manners and social skills. I live by myself nowadays, though, so it's in the past, regardless. -
I'm planning on moving again later this year and it will be the first time I'd have any bit of difficulty doing so. Over the past 8 years I've moved 12 times. Got so used to it that I lived out of a suitcase. Last year I finally unpacked that suitcase all the way. I actually look forward to the day where moving isn't so trivial that I can literally carry everything thing I own in one bag.

This is hilarious, to be honest.

Cooking, only to have someone come over with takeout

Oh, I didn't realize that post was directed at me. I was unaware I let that person off scot free for the prime rib. I never cooked for them again and made them pay for the wasted food in the case of the prime rib. As for people disturbing me while I cook, I don't mind most of the time. I like teaching people if they are willing to learn, but not everyone wants to learn and not every roommate is exactly a winner. -
xe/xer/there/they pronouns folks...nonbinary or whatever
GunStarHero replied to fuggnificent's topic in Free-For-All
Maybe just let people do their own thing? Don't try and control your kid or a love interest like that, won't end well. Just cause your kid is "fiercely feminine" now doesn't mean jack. That being said, the whole "ze, zir, zippity do da" pronouns thing has gotten out of hand. We don't really need new pronouns; we've had a singular "they" for the longest time and it covers everything. I see no point other than to call attention to one's self for these "ze, zoo, bibbidi-bobbidi-boo" pronouns. Almost every person I've seen use those new age pronouns is younger. Kids can be dumb. They do dumb things. Doesn't invalidate everything they bring to the table, but I try not to take them seriously since, to me, it stems from the special snowflake thing. To be quite honest, I notice it's mostly girls that want to wear men's clothing, and some lithe boys that like dresses. So it's whatever, let them be. Although I don't know why you listed pansexual in your later post. That's considerably more tame than the other zany orientations tumblrinas came up with. Just think of pansexual as an extension of bisexual. -

Only had that happen a few times and we always just mix and match between the two. However, I had the very irritating issue with roommates that I would notify well in advance that I'd be cooking for, only to have them waltz into the kitchen, as I'm cooking, and make something else for themselves. Like I give people advance notice of my cooking to avoid this stuff and yet it happened several times with my previous roomies. I'd always ask "hey, don't you want what I'm cooking? I'm making it for everyone." and they just shrug it off and grab a hot pocket. Kind of insulting considering I try and treat people to something they like and I go all out for them when I cook but I get replaced by a hot pocket. Then you also have to consider that said roomies would often ignore my suggestions or do something new without consulting me (or any known recipe) and then complain when their dish turns out terrible. Also had the issue where a roommate would observe me cooking and would attempt to assist only to ruin what they touched. Sometimes it was something trivial, like a slurry, but I've also lost bigger ticket items like prime rib and Neapolitan cake. -
I went to school for graphic design and find myself using Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, and InDesign the most since I left school. I make graphics all the time with Photoshop and Illustrator if I need vector (honestly I should use vector more but I like the freedom of raster). Most of my paintings in the past 8 years have been done in Photoshop, though. I do photo manipulation, same as you, but more often than not I just create everything from scratch. I am legit terrible, like incredibad, with 3D. Only worked with 3DS Max and quit using it after I got the basics down. After Effects is mainly for when I make a gaming video or work on my machinima project.

To each their own. No need to dismiss someone's style. That's the beauty of these programs and art in general: there are many paths to the same goal.

Smoothing is something I see new users abusing, almost like the ever cringey BLESSED DUO OF BEVEL & EMBOSS! Also , personally, I think showing him how to use the paint brush to feather would be better than the tool itself. Just my opinion, though. Gotta teach em how to BR before we hit dat noob combo, naw I'm sayin'?

Lemme know if you need more help.

Ok, so stupid question first, but have you made sure that the image you are trying to crop from isn't locked? By default an image would show up listed as "Background" in your layers sidebar and have a lock on it. Simply double-clicking it and hitting OK will remove it. Otherwise you can't modify it at all. So for more specific cropping, try and use something like the Polygonal Lasso tool, which can be found under the Lasso tool. You can also try the Pen tool and play connect the dots to achieve the same effect. Not sure why you were using a mask for cropping, but thinking about it, you could use it in tandem with the paintbrush but that seems a bit advanced for this.
-
I guess I need more info on what exactly your're trying to do? Screenshots would be helpful if you could provide some. I'm not sure why you would be using any masking tools for cropping. The lasso can be used for cropping but you may be using it incorrectly. Again, not sure what you're trying to do.

There should be a tool called the Rectangular marquee tool (will be towards the top of your tools on the lefthand sidebar by default). Select it and then draw out the rectangle over what you want to crop and then you can copy/paste it as you please. Make sure you are on the layer you want to pull from, though. Likewise there are other, non rectangular marquee tools that allow you to use different shapes or even draw your own customized one. You can also highlight the area with the same tool and go to the Image Menu and select crop and everything outside of it will go away.
