Well, it's both true and not true, in that many jobs DO ask for a significant amount of experience, even for entry level positions. However, since those requests are usually unreasonable, and folx with experience aren't always in the market for a new job, it's possible to get those jobs with less experience. However, the one with less experience AND a networking advantage usually gets it.

Update: the interview went very well. I have to provide a spec ad or two, but the president of the radio group also mentioned I'd be a good fit for a news writing position, should that position be approved to be created. This might be the first time my masters degree was of any job-related use.

Once I was mid kickflip and only my backfoot came in contact with the board. It landed square on the thin edge of side of the skateboard's tail, launching the board directly up into my throat. I couldn't speak clearly for a few hours.
