Japanese food stores almost always have natto. However, Japanese food stores aren't that common in many parts of the country. You can try a general Asian food store; that's where I buy my natto. It will be sold in the freezers. Natto is typically sold as 3 packs with a distinctive container. You thaw the natto in your fridge when you are ready to eat it. And it is much more pungent than kimchi. Many people actually eat natto with kimchi and rice.

Have you ever tried natto? It smells like dirty asshole, but it's a real probiotic superfood. I always poop well after eating it. It may not do anything to you, but I think it's worth a shot.
