if youre one of those people that can listen and learn then yeah i can see a case being made for them to being comparable. there was a time before i got glasses that i started listening to class and learning that way since i couldnt see anything the teacher was writing on the overhead projector. i know its not reading but just trying to illustrate learning can still be done by just listening. and ultimately isnt that the point of reading? to gather knowledge.

agreed. they been doing some of that stuff lately. started with a few set back when they got some japanese artists to do some awesome alternate art for all the planeswalkers in the set of the japanese boosters. they even got yoshitaka amano to do one in the old final fantasy style...

yeah i would hate durdling around. and while there are decks that do that, they are limited to older formats and they are balanced out by other decks. most decks in most formats have at the minimum, some level of interaction. nothing as terrible as you are describing with yugioh. that level of consistency in magic will start warping the format and will get hit with a ban right away.

kinda? it was a big monsters theme set that had alternate art on many of the creatures that were godzilla monsters. so not technically godzilla, but the alternate counterparts to the cards were.

it really felt like it was! once that thing is out on the field and you can start casting spells, you cant lose!

thats terrible, at least in magic you will run out of time if you use a deck that takes forever. magic also has the same problem with a lack of diversity in the tournament scene. in multiple formats you can always find the top tier decks getting the most use. big tournaments always the same. some formats are worse than others. thats why i like cube draft, no high tier list there. just you and whatever your heart desires. or whatever cards get passed to you.
