  1. I would agree with you except for the underlying twist that more than just the 8 Universes in the tournament turned out to be at risk. I was spoiled on the winner of the tournament using the Dragon Balls to bring back all the other universes, but I had no idea it would be Android 17 (especially after his "sacrifice," the outcome of which I was also spoiled on), and that the stakes of NOT making such a wish would be so high!
  2. What do you mean "last-minute chop-out?" Was there something that got cut from the episode as aired on Toonami? According to Wikipedia article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Ball_Super: "Episodes 130 and 131 were live streamed in various cities across Latin American countries including Mexico, El Salvador, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Nicaragua for free in public venues.[119][120] The public screenings drew large record audiences, which included filling stadiums in Mexico and other Latin American countries,[121] with each screening drawing audiences numbering in the thousands to the tens of thousands.[122]" I'm not sure a mere 911K viewers beats THAT (it might if most stadia were smaller), but it IS true that it's exactly HALF of Toonami's high point on ShowBuzzDaily for a NON-Dragon Ball series: the 1822K that the first episode of Akame ga KILL!! got in 2015 in a 12:30 AM timeslot. (DBZ Kai got 2015K a half-hour earlier but it wasn't included as an "original") As for 2019's high point for a non-DBS series, that would be Boruto, and it won't even be on the lineup in 2.5 weeks! But I digress. https://programminginsider.com/saturday-final-ratings-college-football-on-abc-and-espn-easily-outdraw-mlb-playoffs-on-fs1/ We have now learned that DBS's final episode outrated its Family Guy lead-in by 80K total viewers, a 9.63% increase (for a total of 109.63% retention). But the show performed even better in terms of retention in target demos: 132.35% in Adults 18-34; 127.85% in Adults 18-49; and 123.53% in Adults 25-54. And as for the rest of the lineup in 18-49: 10/5/19 - Adults 18-49 Show Viewers Retention TOONAMI DBS (P) 606,000 127.85% Dr. Stone 391,000 64.52% Dr. Stone 373,000 95.40% FireForce 310,000 83.11% FoodWars! 273,000 88.06% B. Clover 239,000 87.55% Boruto 219,000 91.63% Shippuden 206,000 94.06% Gundam 182,000 88.35% LupinPt5 151,000 82.97% MHA (R) 158,000 104.64% AVERAGE 282,545 5 of 40 😎 I doubt Dragon Ball Super reruns will be able to capture that magic, but maybe One-Punch Man Season 2 will? If not, hope you enjoyed the ride! Now, on to the strange decision to also rerun PRIMAL before Toonami: In its first night, it didn't exactly inspire confidence, at #18 18-49 and 538K total viewers: http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-monday-cable-originals-network-finals-10-7-2019.html http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-tuesday-cable-originals-network-finals-10-8-2019.html But the 2nd night did better, at #7 18-49 and 661K total viewers: Well, at least it seems like it's on a trajectory to beat Infinity Train. Hopefully the show will continue to gain viewers as it continues over the next 3 nights!
  3. Also this DBS episode got an estimated 360K in 18-34, the highest rating of any TOONAMI show so far this year! As for total viewers, that's...uhhh, 9 football stadia?? That's better than Latin America's bootleg subbed showings, right???
  4. 10/5/2019 - Total Viewers Show Viewers Retention TOONAMI DBS (P) 911,000 Dr. Stone 561,000 61.58% Dr. Stone 509,000 90.73% FireForce 447,000 87.82% FoodWars! 390,000 87.25% B. Clover 334,000 85.64% Boruto 323,000 96.71% Shippuden 308,000 95.36% Gundam 283,000 91.88% LupinPt5 253,000 89.40% MHA (R) 269,000 106.32% AVERAGE 417,091 9 of 40 😎 Full 18-49s not out yet... We'll see if the lineup does alright with DBS reruns and OPM and Demon Slayer premieres on the block next week!
  5. Perhaps as if meant to be, Dragon Ball Super concludes its premiere run OVER NINE HUNDRED THOUSAND!!! Only Lupin failed to make the Top 50: http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-10-5-2019.html
  6. Considering the Dragon Ball Super reruns are starting at #128, that seems quite likely! November 9th would be the day DBS and MHA swap on the schedule.
  7. Still a far cry from what One-Punch Man was able to do in 2016 after being out for like 10 months! Every episode of OPM averaged over 1 million viewers, but it WAS before the decline. Still, what would be comparable success for Season 2? 500K viewers? 750K viewers? That's territory that only Dragon Ball Super and maybe, ironically, Boruto, has entered lately.
  8. One Piece also had super-deformed character designs... https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/fire-force/episode-10/.151123 Rating: 3.5⭐. I thought the best part of this mostly lighthearted episode was the teaser at the end! Látom.
  9. I don't think AmaLee actually recorded a full version of it. They're playing all they've got. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/dragon-ball-super/episode-131/.129487 Grade: "A+". Y'all agree??
  10. Seems it may only be a placeholder for something new on November 9th, the same day as The Forge... http://www.adultswim.com/schedule That's Episode 128 on the schedule this Saturday night. While I have no doubt they're gonna rerun it later at night from the beginning, it looks like it and MHA may swap whenever Toonami can legally air MHA Season 4, and that seems like it might be November 9th!
  11. Welp, y'all beat me to the punch! It does indeed turn out that this rerun seems to be a placeholder of some sort, and MHA Season 3's 4 AM rerun also has that many episodes left! But do they really have enough faith in an MHA Season 4 that's behind a simuldub about as far as Dr. Stone to debut at 11 PM? That's amazing if so! MHA S4 seems all but confirmed for November 9th! But I totally don't get, based on the ratings for the two shows, WHY One-Punch Man wouldn't get the 11 PM slot instead of MHA.
  12. Wow, I didn't even know I was this drunk when I posted this!!! Dammit, thanks to rain my DVR recording of this show got all screwed up! Couple that with the fact that Adult Swim's streaming episode (of 6) is screwed up, and I'm GLAD I was watching it on my smartphone Saturday night! I'm hoping this show gets a marathon of the first 11 episodes or something on Thanksgiving weekend, and that the weather cooperates, so I can record them properly! I think it has a pretty good chance! Episode 6: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/dr-stone/episode-6/.150056 Rating: 3⭐. Seriously? That's really lowballing it considering I immensely enjoyed this episode and am quite sad I have no decent way to rewatch it now. Episode 7: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/dr-stone/episode-7/.150171 Rating: 4⭐. An interesting set-up episode for the new story arc! Now, presumably, the show will follow Senku in the Stone Village...
  13. Y'all are a bunch of butt-munches!!! JoJo isn't saving ANYTHING at 2:30 AM. It's just slightly more relevant than Gundam The Origin at 3 AM. Hell, that actually ended up quite relevant at 3 AM? But the shows that are "saving" Toonami? OPM and maybe DBS reruns, sorry to say...
  14. Too bad we couldn't get THAT song at the end! Kinda like a "Japanese Blues Traveler!"
  15. And of COURSE we end the night with the PRIMAL promo, which BTW made all the sense in the world during the Dr. Stone double-header earlier tonight!
  16. Wow, this discussion is dead tonight! We're already in the commercial break of... Episode #59 (Season 3, Episode 21): What's The Big Idea?
  17. I don't know why I thought we were going to get Red Ray again. This is the RIGHT 4th Ending...
  18. I still had to watch every episode several times to get it, but that's OK. I'd say this one had a slightly better payoff than Unicorn. I'm still not quite sure what the hell happened at the end of that show!
  19. So I WAS right that this was the end of "EPISODE III"! And to think, Lupin could have gotten an upgrade to 3 AM for the next episode now that Gundam The Origin is over, but that won't be happening thanks to Super reruns...
  20. She's not QUITE loli--she's like 16! Legal age of consent in my state! Lolita was 13 or 14.
  21. I like anime series comprised of shorter mini-arcs like this show and Gundam The Origin. They're easier to watch later as small "movies". Fire Force, I believe, falls into that category as well.
  22. I realized that in Episode 1! It seemed like she had just as much personality, but that changed when her "humanity" showed in Episode 4, the one where they were lost in the desert!
  23. Yep, the best we got was that little teaser back in the first Amuro-focused episode, Episode 8.
