I believe this means Dragon Ball Super actually kept pace with PRIMAL in 18-49. Not bad for a pair of repeats! One-Punch Man down 0.04 in 18-34 from Primal. No clue whether DBS kept pace in 18-34. It really is a shame Family Guy couldn't have led directly into Toonami; there's no telling what OPM could have done in that case. I'm thinking maybe 0.30 18-34 and a solid 0.25 18-49. But I guess we'll never really know. Hopefully MHA S4 comes soon and puts an end to this stupidity.

Wow, I just realized I never posted the review for this episode, and somewhat surprisingly, it's a good one! https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/black-clover/episode-89/.148361 Rating: 4⭐. A good episode in which Mumbly Manson really shined for once! Who knew the three oddest odd-balls of all could actually carry the show??- 54 replies

Hey, you're right! The total viewer average of gen:LOCK was 413,250. OPM's first episode of Season 2 DID beat that... ...but the question is: can it keep it up? AOTS3P2 burst onto the scene with a relative bang with 439K but it ended up with only a 377.7K average over its 10-episode premiere run (which includes an episode at midnight; including only the 11:30 episodes, be they premiere or rerun yields 380.4K). One the other hand, gen:LOCK slumped in with a 347K but ended at a much improved 413.25K on average. I guess my point is the first episode is not the average. Hopefully Punchy S2 will be boosted toward the end by some MHA S4 network premieres instead of Dragon Ball Super reruns. It may turn out that Dragon Ball Super is airing as a rerun at 11 PM to prove to programming (who never seems to learn a lesson for more than 6 months) that reruns don't work in the first timeslot, no matter which show is airing! Here's an interesting article about the state of cable TV, and the conclusion is: it's dying quickly, but it may not die off completely, at least in the U.S... https://cablecompare.com/cable-tv-statistics-is-cable-tv-dead/

Well, at least for DBS, that was quick: https://programminginsider.com/saturday-final-ratings-fox-dominates-prime-time-with-game-one-of-mlb-american-league-championship-series/ 10/12/2019 - Total Viewers Show Viewers Retention TOONAMI DBS (R) 441,000 OPM2 415,000 94.10% Dr. Stone 380,000 91.57% FireForce 357,000 93.95% FoodWars! 333,000 93.28% D. Though this is the worst peak for Toonami yet in 2019, there actually were 3 worse starts during the 6 weeks in which MHA S3 was leading the block.

Eh, to be fair, if it were able to be the lead-in show for Toonami now that Dragon Ball Super is over, it probably would have done better. We don't know how well Family Guy did as a lead-in on weeknights, but we usually have that information for 10:30 and 11 PM Saturdays. Not quite yet, though. The earliest show last Saturday Night that was not a rerun was One-Punch Man, and, well... http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-10-12-2019.html Lupin once again missed the Top 50 at #58 with a 0.12 in 18-49 and 232K viewers. What's interesting is the much-vaunted bane of Toonami, ONE CHAMPIONSHIP MMA, only landed at #95 with a 0.09 in 18-49, but 264K viewers; however, that is still fewer than any of its competitors on Toonami! I guess we'll find out how PRIMAL and Dragon Ball Super reruns did later today...

If you count legacy shows that aired on Toonami prior to 2019, it's actually 15 out of 20! But you are correct that if you consider subtitles, not one of these shows aired on Toonami before Crunchyroll. And that's something that needs to change. Toonami is making inroads with the likes of FLCL Progressive and Alternative, and next year's Uzumaki and Blade Runner, but they need to go after the golden goose: a World co-Premiere with Japan of a continuation of Dragon Ball Super. An 11 PM Saturday Night dub premiere in the U.S. Combined with like a 2 PM Sunday afternoon Japanese premiere seems about right to me! Keep in mind that Japan is like 15 hours ahead of us. That means that a 5 PM show in Japan that would be simulcast (and dubbed) on Toonami would air at 2 AM at the earliest, if the multilingual aspect is part of the pre-production of that theoretical show. So far, of course, the closest we've come to that is Space Dandy (which was like 9 hours behind in Japan) or FLCL Progressive (which got a theatrical premiere in Japan weeks after its Toonami Premiere).

So 10/10 is BOTH Boruto's birthday AND Naruto's!? How did THAT happen!? Because I thought most kids are probably born 9 months after their fathers' birthdays or Valentine's Day...

Wow, you're right!!! https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/black-clover/episode-90/.148600 Rating: 3.5⭐. I thought it was a pretty good episode from what I've seen, but I can't figure out for the life of me what was in the first half to cause that epilepsy warning! I've heard good things about the next few episodes, though!!- 79 replies

Suggest Toonami's next show involving mechs!!
OwlChemist81 replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
From what I understand, it already exists as an 18-minute-per-episode 8-episode miniseries. As far as Gundam is concerned, that really is the "low-hanging-fruit" at this point! -
Yeah, good night! Maybe next week I won't be stricken with a bad case of the sleepies!

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/lupin-the-third-part-5/episode-17/.134960 Grade: "A". That was certainly a refreshing change of pace for a Lupin show!
