Yep! They started Season 3 yesterday (Friday)! I get the west coast feed, so I usually listen at 7:30 on the way to work.

Holy crap, the episode which introduced the Pussycats just aired on [as] at 4:30 this morning! Did [as] PLAN this somehow!?!

The sustaining ratings throughout the night despite the weakness of the MHA Season 3 encore made the difference this time, as the block averaged 353,833 total viewers and 256,667 adults 18-49, both ranking 11th for the year so far out of 24, above average for 2020. As for the 12-3 AM time frame in previous weeks in 2020, it was 12th and 10th, respectively. Finally, a look back 5 years ago:

At least it gets some real star power in My Hero Academia premieres for the next 2 weeks, but then after that...??? 🤷‍♂️ Never will understand why they didn't swap Mob and Black Clover UNLESS that means we're getting Season 2. Oddly enough, as things are now, we've got 2 more episodes of Mob's Season 1 rerun than we do of BC episodes that are dubbed, but it's quite possible at least 2 more will be dubbed by the time we reach that point. They may even go into overdrive on BC at a rate that ensures it doesn't have to pull a JoJo and take an extended break before it catches up to where it took a break in Japan. Of course I get why Paranoia Agent is at 12:30, but it only has 5 episodes left, which is also one less than Mob Season 1. I see it rerunning somewhere down the line, perhaps immediately. I also see no way there won't be a marathon on the 4th of July, and it will probably be either MHA or PA.

Even in non-pandemic times, Toonami would have a dilemma on its hands this year with one of the biggest traditional party days of the year, the 4th of July, falling on a Saturday. But COVID-19 just heightens this situation as there are fewer shows to work with. The normal lineup just wouldn't seem to be practical this year, as that will put us one step closer to running out of Black Clover premieres and MHA will most likely be out of premieres by then, as #87 is ready to go this weekend and I can't think of a reason why the season finale, #88 shouldn't also be next weekend. So, conventional wisdom suggests we will see a rerun marathon, but which show? A special MHA marathon highlighting All Might seems like it would be a good idea, and then there's always Paranoia Agent. But beyond that? DBZ Kai or Dragonball Super, maybe??

Are you sure? I watched it all 3 times and I didn't notice any. Mob Psycho 100 looks similar sometimes; are you sure that isn't what you saw?

Yeah, you could certainly make the argument that the later seasons being buried deeper in the lineup may have something to do with Viz having shallower pockets when it came to shelling out money for the rights to those names than Warner did for the first season, though even THEY came up with some creative ways around them. Though I certainly found "Santviento" as first Pillar Man "Santana" quite jarring, the way they worked around the other 3 Pillar Men, "AC/DC, Wham, and Cars" as "Esidisi, Wamuu, and Kars", quite clever!

A look back to 5 years ago, and the end of InuYasha: The Final Act: Well, we FINALLY have full block ratings for last week, 6/6/20, and believe it or not, they actually got posted DURING Toonami last night. Digging a little deeper, we see that in the absence of Live PD, the #1 show was actually a 10:30 episode of The Big Bang Theory on TBS, and Toonami lost big to Nick-At-Nite but once again beat TZGZ. AVERAGES: 322.5K overall, ranking 18th out of 23 for the year; 214.8K 18-49, 17th for the year.

Hopefully Toomami actually PLAYS that one in full! Yes, I know it's the same song, but it's enough of a difference that they SHOULD!! I will try to remember to copy and paste this to next week's thread! Also, why in the hell did Funimation have to change the episode numerals?? Watch JoJo come back in an earlier timeslot, like 12:30 or 1 AM, and replace one of the other ending shows, when it comes back. Hell, at this point, I wouldn't put leading the block as a stop-gap past it, if that's what it takes to build the bridge to Fire Force Season 2. Then again, depending upon how long it takes, we could be talking about Attack on Titan leading the block. At this point, we just don't know who the block-leader will be, but I have a lot of faith that JoJo could do it effectively. It has been the SECOND show on the block before! Its run has 11 weeks left so if they have them all ready to go at once it could be a stalwart.

Yeah, great twist this thread took at the end toward the tenuous relationship between Disney and the ATT family! I hope we end up seeing an occasional Miyazaki film on Toonami once again! They could even throw in an "HBO max presents" or something...

Wow, I almost crashed! Well, I guess that's the end of the night! LATER!!

It also aired earlier tonight during DBZ Kai. Hopefully they throw Toonami a bone eventually and let them do another Month of Miyazaki if they have trouble getting shows otherwise!
