The Toonami Ratings Thread 1.0 :You are on a new board
brianycpht replied to StarPanda's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
It’s all relative to how Family Guy does (which doesn’t rise high due to a weaker prime time ). We’ll see when PI comes out later tonight. -

We can only dream. I just wish they would pick it up and move everything else down. Does it matter if Bebop and GiTS are at 3:30 and 4:00? -

That's what irritates me about the current state of the block. We are missing out on new things. We already missed the boat on MHA and will probably also do so for Black Clover because the block has no room until January unless they expand again. Meanwhile Funimation won't wait and they'll put it up on their service which means even if Toonami gets it it won't be a dub premiere -

It'll probably just have a normal drop from Jojo. It could gain on it a little considering they've actually gone and promotd it more than a week out this time! -

Not too bad this week As for Lupin, I don't think they were expecting it to be great due to its original 2:00 AM timeslot. The staff just really loves the show just like they love Gundam. They may have gotten a really good deal on it as well just so it can get some TV exposure before its Disc release next year. I wouldn't count out Part 5 either! The block is having a hard time securing the rights to a lot of shows due to streaming competituion and Lupin may be one of the things that they can still get without too much of a problem! Shippuden probably did a little better than Lupin, which will make it the 25th time it has beaten the show before it (I know this because a buddy of mine on Reddit likes to keep track of this and celebrate it every week in their ratings thread! > ) -

I agree with you 100%. I was just thinking it was a contributing factor. The lineup itself isn't bringing the viewers as well. -

AS as a whole is losing viewers outside of Rick and Morty. They've used Family Guy as a crutch for years and even that isn't a sure thing anymore . That also sort of limits what Toonami can do. -

Plus they only got 2 more weeks if it! But I think he meant that the money made on RM will help fund their anime hobby a little longer -

The problem is that the biggest drop of the night is from DBZ to whatever is next. When DBZ only gets 700k, it's gonna be low no matter what. They do need to examine if another show can do better though and make the best choice for the overall night. -

In regards to Lupin, I just came out of Castle of Carliostro and it had a tag at the end to catch it on Toonami in English ! And a room full of Lupin fans had no idea it was airing -

They may very well be pondering whether to put IBO at midnight. I myself am just not feeling this Jojo (in fact its the only thing still sitting on my DVR unwatched from last week), I wonder if more of the casual audience feels the same. I enjoyed the first season well enough, I don't know why I can't get into this one . I wonder what AS will do if the 8:30 Super continues to uptick and starts getting close or beating the 11:00 PM airing? I really wish they could just use it to anchor some kind of mini Toonami block along with something else suitable and use the rerun farther down the later block. Oh course we will wait and see what Family Guy did at 10:30 to get the full picture. -

They need to keep it at a consistent time for at least 6 months to a year to regrow that audience. The start time has changed 4 times this year already -

I'm sure that if they see it as a problem and they have something that will do better, they'll make the move. The question is, if not Jojo, what should air after DBZ? Is there anything in he current lineup, or would they need a new show? I hope its not one of the situations where they have a timeslot commitment and they CAN'T move it. -

I wouldn't sweat it. It's not like it's going to be a trend . The network will judge it in context. -

For sure they will. Especially by Saturday, it was on every TV. A lot of people also evacuated or will called in to work (health care, national guard, and EMS workers) and were away from their TVs -

Just a heads up guys, there will be some ratings delays as Nielsen is located in Oldsmar, Florida (right down the road from me actually) and they evacuated due to the hurricane. http://adage.com/article/media/florida-storm-irma-indefinitely-delays-nielsen-ratings/310421/ So we won't be partaking in our usual discussion for a few days probably. -

Exactly, personal taste doesn't dictate show quality either. I'm not into Jojo or Tokyo Ghoul but I understand why other would be. That's the point of Toonami, you would hope that out of the now 10 shows (even if 2 of them are Dragonball shows) they show a week, there is something for you to enjoy. -
Bebops back. Toonami expands to 4:00 AM
brianycpht replied to brianycpht's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Yeah, what I basically meant was that just seeing numbers that low triggers worry just because of what we were used to seeing. You guys said it perfectly on the podcast. This is just what Toonami can do without the huge lead in that we used to get. If comedy was getting close to 2 million viewers and we were seeing those kind of numbers it wouldn't be good! Look at these ratings for instance from March of 2013 http://sonofthebronx.blogspot.com/2013/03/adult-swim-ratings-march-11-17-2013.html At the time Family Guy was at 10 like it is now (and was doing -1.8 million on a Saturday at 10:00), but it was followed by Boondocks and Black Dynamite( which were only doing 1.1-1.2 million) which sort of kneecapped where Toonami started the night off. At that point cable was doing a lot better overall. Take into account cable and Family Guys's decline and things become a lot clearer. -

We are inclined to feel a certain way I suppose because a few years ago, these numbers would not even be close to OK. We got the block cut for better numbers than this.
