You have to add some of the demos but it is the most current info I can find in doing 18-49 and 18-34

I think that will continue to become an issue. Eventually, people that have a connection to the original block will either age out of the demo or begin to get more responsibilities that preclude them from staying up all night on Saturday. After all, people with early schedules have a hard time breaking them for one night! If more of the regulars drop off without new blood coming in to replace them, that will complicate things somewhat.

To be honest, I’m still putting most of the blame on prime time and how Super is set up. We never really got to see how a real Super premiere would do following Family Guy. The rest of the lineup drops somewhat normally based on past numbers (I’ve been calculating different ones and you’ll always drop a lot following DBZ, Kill la Kill would shed 300-400 k from Kai regularly) It’s just that Super should have taken things to another level and this stupid deal with TOEI and the weak prime time lineup is ruining where Toonami starts the night. We don’t have to have arguments about it. Everyone can have their take on the situation without it having to turn ugly, it’s not that big of a deal! ?

I can’t imagine this continuing like this for much longer without some intervention. They have to stop the bleeding.

These retention rates are terrible. I’m pretty sure the network can’t be too happy with this if it becomes a trend. I’m actually really curious what they’ll do. The Super deal continues to bite them in the ass. How did they manage to ditch it for that one week only to immediately have it return? I’m certain the budget is depleted for the rest of the year so there’s not much they can do with this lineup other than maybe move HxH and Shippuden up where Jojo and Gundam are, but I don’t know if that would yield better results. Either way, the network has to figure this out. 8:30 Super also has a huge advanrage because that’s what the DVRS record and there’s more time to watch it before the cut off time. The rest of the block doesn’t have that much time. The 11:00 Super won’t get much DVR views because you have to manually pick it (every week I have to cancel 8:30 and pick 11:00)

No that summed it up quite nicely. I was just joking with you to be honest,but I can see how entertainment is evolving. Look at “Stranger Things”, which became a huge hit without ever airing on TV. I constantly hear anime fans in bookstores and places where merchandise is sold talking about what shows they are watching and never once do I hear “Toonami”. But Toonami is never going to be the end all place for anime. It’s merely a gateway and eventually will hopefully produce their own stuff in addition to having exclusive pickups. There are more outlets for anime, Toonami will just merely be one of those venues.

You think that did it Alchemist? Well that’s why I think the network would have to see a trend before they read too much into this.

This Super thing is such an anomaly. They are really going to have to keep an eye on this and see if its a trend moving forward. As of yet, this may be the first time that the prime time stealth premiere beats the "official" premiere. This just came out of nowhere Meanwhile the slight lift here did not benefit the rest of the night due to the weak comedy lead ins. The Saturday schedule is so broken at this point they are going to have to do something to fix prime time so Toonami can have a better lead in. Back in the ASA and early Toonami revival days, Bleach used to suffer when AS would get cheap and run low performers as the lead in .

http://adultswim.x10.mx Well this is disappointing if true. Looks like DST programming won’t even be Toonami related or anything new or special. Hopefully there is a suprise of some kind and this is a misdirection.

I think it mostly means that more and more young people are entertained by social media than by cable TV. The appeal to me of live TV is that it’s more curated and your more likely to find something you’d never see on your own. Streaming is more of a “on your own “ thing and you have to seek things out. I also feel like people still want cable shows, but they don’t want to pay for them. Apparently there are methods to hack home media devices to get pirated content. I actually know people that do this. Others rely on YouTube before a copyright strike takes things down. I’m worried about the next generation who will ordinarily stream. By just sort of surrounding yourself with things you pick, you may never experience things that you never would have found on your own. Same goes with music, the downfall of things like regular radio and MTV keeps people in their little cacoons and won’t regularly just random here new music or a new artist the same way my generation did. Some are more adventurous than others, but making everything available on demand just sort of means things get lost in the shuffle.

It’s season 5... again.

I’d imagine there will more likely be the regular line up on Thanksgiving in order to make sure people tune in to the end of Countdown!

We also have Rick and Morty reruns leading into Family Guy where we used to have Bobs and Dad Toonami starts an hour earlier which , coming from a weaker Family Guy start the night low These shows no matter what they are don’t stand a chance at doing better numbers. At the same time, I think they over estimated Gundams hype

As long as this setup exists with the Super premieres in primetime, along with the weaker comedy lead in, this is about what I've come to expect out of the block. Nothing really surprising here. Maybe we should start celebrating how many shows to over 500k like we used to do for a million.

Weird thing on my end, ever since Irma (where we never lost power) my neighborhood is getting these random quick power outages. Last week, several of my Toonami recordings were screwed up because everytime the power goes out it takes my box like 10 minutes to reset. So when I went back and watched the recordings, the shows would randomly skip 10 minutes ahead without warning. Like in Aot, they were in Conny's village and then all of a sudden, they were doing Ymir's flashback.

So far the schedule just shows a new Super at 8:30. They may air Super regardless in order to try and boost whatever marathon they do

And sure enough Family Guy pulled in only 1.1 million viewers. Saturday is just weak overall and Toonami is paying the price. Ratings are an issue, but I’m more concerned about Demarcos Ask.fm statement that acquiring shows for the block is getting harder and harder. That’s what’s going to do Toonami in, a lack of content

It’s all relative to how Family Guy does (which doesn’t rise high due to a weaker prime time ). We’ll see when PI comes out later tonight.

We can only dream. I just wish they would pick it up and move everything else down. Does it matter if Bebop and GiTS are at 3:30 and 4:00?

That's what irritates me about the current state of the block. We are missing out on new things. We already missed the boat on MHA and will probably also do so for Black Clover because the block has no room until January unless they expand again. Meanwhile Funimation won't wait and they'll put it up on their service which means even if Toonami gets it it won't be a dub premiere

It'll probably just have a normal drop from Jojo. It could gain on it a little considering they've actually gone and promotd it more than a week out this time!

Not too bad this week As for Lupin, I don't think they were expecting it to be great due to its original 2:00 AM timeslot. The staff just really loves the show just like they love Gundam. They may have gotten a really good deal on it as well just so it can get some TV exposure before its Disc release next year. I wouldn't count out Part 5 either! The block is having a hard time securing the rights to a lot of shows due to streaming competituion and Lupin may be one of the things that they can still get without too much of a problem! Shippuden probably did a little better than Lupin, which will make it the 25th time it has beaten the show before it (I know this because a buddy of mine on Reddit likes to keep track of this and celebrate it every week in their ratings thread! > )
