We definitely need a dub premiere at this point. IBO was the last one and that was 6 months ago. I think Mob is kinda late at this point too to be that big of a deal

Toonami is a great place for some shows to get a second life down the line and expose them to new audiences. I’m confident that’ll happen with MHA down the line.

We are 3 weeks out at the moment and their typical announcement time is no later than 2 weeks out. I think especially now if the show has been secured, that it is time to start promoting it, at least make a Facebook post to let people know what it is at this point. I’ve never been a fan of waiting until the last 2 weeks to even tell people what’s coming. On air promotion is costly and that’s one thing, but I don’t see the strategy in hiding it until the end. I remember in the ASA days, we’d get announcements months ahead of time. It certainly would help people decide what to watch as it comes out, especially if it’s a simuldub. But we should hear in the next week unless they have more delay tactics (double Jojo or something like that)

I think that IBO, Unicorn, and IBO2 were probably all committed to at the same time as a package deal with Sunrise. Both Unicorn and IBO2 were announced as airing months ahead of time (well in the case of Unicorn about 6 weeks) so I think that's what happened. I believe in the past Sunrise has made these kind of deals that required UC stuff to air in order to get some AC shows. I do see the crew dealing directly with the Japanese side since Sunrise has no American counterpart and making a multi show deal. So I guess we'll have to see if that is going to continue for more shows. People were really requesting Gundam to come back and they delivered So if they are satisfied with the result they may bring on more or they may not. We'll see.I'm not so much on sold on the idea of bringing in Gundam Wing again just because I know its going to be more money spent where I think it can be better spent elsewhere. If they want to bring on a classic, why not something like Escaflowne or Tiger and Bunny or something that the block never got a chance to run in the past instead?

Since Unicorn didn’t do that great, I think they are going to shy away from any UC stuff. It seems this Toonami audience just isn’t into that sort of thing. Weird thing, I don’t even think of IBO as a Gundam show, it just feels different to me.

Kim Manning’s a big fan apparently which is why people suspect they got this. Thats a good question, where would you put something like this? Putting it upfront may hurt the other shows, but you can’t throw it on at 3:30 am either.

It’s already been dubbed and available on Funimation Now and is dubbed that way. It’s possible they may just take the first parts and just air 2 of them. It would only last 6 weeks then

I think it’s all female voices for the 1st part and all male voices for the 2nd (even for the female characters)

I’m on the fence about that. The show is the same 15 minutes twice with different actors in each part. I don’t know how that will play out on TV

I agree with you. I guess they could get a rerun of Wing or G for the back of the block, but I think it’s best to save their money for newer things

Titan was such an issue last year since it was competing with the sub. I hope we don’t have another situation where Funimation is doing the simuldub several episodes ahead of Toonami. That would seriously fracture the audience and kill the hype. In fact I’m willing to bet AS has a first rights contract with the show as we saw Funimation break when they did. im guessing if they do attempt air a same day simuldub, it would have a lead in the dubbing process. Also, they should have a ready back up plan at anytime in case it can’t happen one week and announce to people ahead of time that this is a possibility

Well Kim Manning really likes PTE so that almost gives it a leg up. It’s also the sort of thing AS would make themselves. If they did Tokyo Ghoul Re now it would sort of be counter productive since Funimation has a day and dates simuldub that they are hyping. I don’t think a weeks behind simuldub would get people “psyched”. I feel like if this is what they had they should have mentioned it earlier for the people willing to wait for a them to start it. Now you have a potential for a lot of people to have already seen the first episodes. I know Clover was in the sane situation, but I don’t think they were planning on getting that from the beginning, I think it was shopped to them a few weeks in.

Since Demarco is a big music guy, I can see him meaning it with a definition I found. It means to be in perfect sync or have great timing musically. So this I think points to a simuldub that is really close with Japan, perhaps the same day. If the clues are in order of appearance, then I say we are getting a AoT day and date with Japan. For the other 2, I’m going with ReZero and Pop Team Epic, although I’m inclined to agree with you about its structure maybe not hitting well with the audience. It basically is a 15 minute show ran twice with different voices. If they air this, I wonder if they split up the parts and have shows on the quarter hour similar to April Fools. Running that 2nd part at the very end of the night may work well to transition into the Comedy

Don’t be surprised if it is. It may even stay doubled up until the have a new show ready. It could just be a placeholder for now. It will probably stick around for another run with one episode though. It’s at 3am so no big deal

The biggest disappointment with this is that it’s something random that doesn’t bring anything new to the block and we go back to the same schedule we have now including double Bebop. I think it would be a wasted opportunity to really do something exciting with the block!

I think it’s sort of the power of group think. Everyone has been talking about it as if it’s an almost sure thing. But we don’t even know if it’s something that’s been on their radar. Some have pointed out how it’s gettkng a home release but hasn’t been announced as joining FunimationNow, but I believe there have been several titles that were released on video and then quietly simultaneously been added. I think though it would be a tremendous waste to not get it and if they aren’t aware of it, then that’s an issue all in itself. I just want something different this year. If it’s all just more Jojo, Ghoul, Titan,and Gundam, then I’ll become really bored of the block even more than I already have! And I feel really bad about saying that but it felt a lot more exciting in 14/15!

Yeah all that’s going to do is upset people who aren’t getting their normal shows. They shouldn’t waste an opportunity like this. It needs to at least be something worthy of replacing the regular lineup. People who want to see Jojo, Gundam, HxH ect are going to be mad no matter what, but if you offer a new show or something fun, it may not be as bad!

I like your idea but I think if they repeat the same episode for next week it’s really going to bomb. If they actually start the prank at midnight they’ll already be a lot of eyes on the screen. So the question remains willthey really Premier a brand new show unannounced with no advertising ? It would be a pretty bold move but we’ll see if they do it I think that it’s worth a shot but it could backfire also. On one hand you would get a lot of people watching that first episode but if people aren’t watching they would miss it. Then if you go and repeat the same episodes over two weeks the people that did watch it the first time won’t be watching again and as a result the rest of the night would be lower. Interesting dilemma

Unfortunately, the cut we have is what was made by TOEI Europe for the international markets where Kai was more successful than in Japan. For whatever reason the wanted 69 episodes. When Japan picked it up after Toriko got cancelled, the only needed the slot for a little over a year so they cut 8 episodes of material out. So there’s is only 61 episodes. If we got that version, we’d be wrapping up Kai next month!

Oh it totally is. This is why they are acting like double Bebop is the new lineup. They have to have some kind of decoy schedule up. They just are in the unfortunate position of also having a show ending at the same time!

Something about it needing to only last about a year. We got the original cut. I know they cut out a few episodes of the Great Saiyaman stuff and a few episodes at the end (yes our Kai actually kept some of the filler after the Buu fight). What we have sort of defeats the purpose of Kai

Well the Japanese cut has 8 fewer episodes I believe. I wish we had gotten that one over here instead!
