I do find it funny all the things in the past the religious community lost their minds over. Harry Potter is definitely one of the most known cases, just because the books were about witches and wizards and magic, you had parents out there treating it like it was the work of the devil. A friend of mine comes from a very religious family, her dad being a pastor. Things like Harry Potter and even Pokemon were forbidden to her and her brother, her telling me about how her brother was collecting the trading cards back then, her dad reacting by tearing them up and throwing them in the trash. Her family being Christian. And I find that funny cause my family is Catholic, my grandparents being very devoted to it, and yet they thought nothing of me and my sis being into things like HP and pkmn, hell my grandma even took me to the theaters to watch those films when I was a kid.

Honestly I only remember listening to 2 songs of his, the whole 'We are the champions' and 'Rocket man' and between the two I like Rocket Man more. Somewhat funny story about Elton John, I used to work with this one guy that was a hardcore Christian, the type that followed the bible to a T, where if the bible says nothing of something then that something doesn't exist (such as aliens and dinosaurs, and according to him even ghosts). This guy is also very much so against gays, him being one of those "all gays will go to hell" types of people. And he was talking about Elton John once, "I used to love Elton John and his music until he turned his back on the Christian faith by marrying another man" going on to talk about how he was gonna go to hell now.

For the last couple years it seemed like there was a pattern to it. December 2017 I got it, the November 2018 I got it. I was fully expecting to get it somewhere around those months in 2019 but this time I got lucky and didn't get it. The funny thing is I handle the flu pretty damn well actually. The last two times, and the small few other times I've gotten it in the past, it was a case where I'd be fine for most of the day, it not being until pretty late in the evening, around 8pm that it will hit me. Both of the last 2 times I was at work so ended up leaving around 3 hours early both of those times. In both cases I went home, slept for around 2 hours, then for many hours after proceeded to throw my guts up, sleep for 30-40 minutes, and repeat. And then by next morning I'm mostly fine, and by evening I feel alright, just fatigued. I'll typically feel fatigued for a few days after having the flu, but health wise I legit feel fine the very next day after getting it. Funny story, back around 2010 or whenever that whole swine flu epidemic was going around, I ended up getting it (I think my doctor confirmed that I was the first case of it in Illinois). It hit me early one Sunday, around 12 or so. I honestly couldn't open my eyes cause it felt like they were on fire, my skin felt like it was on fire, and I could barely walk, I was practically falling over myself trying to leave my room so I could tell my mom. They gave me some medicine, don't know what it was, and then I slept for around 4 hours, waking up around 4pm or so and I legit felt fine for the most part, my doctor confirming that it was the swine flu I went through. So in short, the flu just gives me a shitty night then I'm swell by the next day, and even something more hardcore like the swine flu only did me in for around 4-6 hours. Now the common cold on the other hand, that can do me in for a couple of days.

In that case, it'd be on the exact opposite side of IL from me.

I really would like to go down there one day, that said though I'm a bitch when it comes to hot weather, so it'd have to be in the Fall - Winter months for me to be able to go down there.

I was talking to an online friend of mine recently about IL, and he asked if IL was the one that's the poster child for creative district lines and I responded to that with this image.

considering IL's solution to our debt is to raise taxes and create new ones to tax us, I'd imagine it's only a matter of time before they do something asinine like that. there's a reason why the state of IL (along with California and New York) are having an exodus. Hell, I live in southern Illinois, nowhere remotely close to Cook County, in a small - medium sized town, and it's still a case where our property taxes are pretty shite. A guy I work with has been trying to sell his house for over a year now, him moving a couple cities away to a much nicer and cleaner place, and the property taxes for the house he left is around $350 a month.

Here in IL, we all basically get the leftovers from Chicago and Cook county in general. The majority of our education budget goes to them. The school district in my city is eligible for around 65 mil a year, but we'd be lucky to see half of that. Our highways and road infrastructure is also shite. We've had the same politicians in office for 20-30+ years, resulting in a case where it legit does not matter how many governors get ousted and locked up in prison, the problem will always remain. I'm looking forward to paying the Netflix/online streaming tax, as well as the gas tax which was doubled and now tied into inflation...

Things worked out pretty nicely for me. I was already gonna have a three day weekend because of MLK day, but today was a special day so instead of coming to work in the afternoon I came in around 11, but after only 2 hours of work, work was called off cause of freezing rain coming in, the nice thing about it is we still get paid the full amount for coming into work. So in short, I only worked 2-3 hours today, I get a 3 day weekend, and still get paid the full amount for today and also MLK day. Gotta love govt, union operated jobs.

Are there any foods that you would never eat again?

I can't really recall anything in the past, but recently I gave that whole vegan "meat" a try, trying out an impossible whopper from BK.... Never again. I already knew before hand that vegan meat is worse for you than regular meat (to make up for not being made of meat they use a lot of oil and sodium and things of that sort), and it's even worse for men since it's high in estrogen. I mainly tried it that one time just out of curiosity to see how that impossible meat compares to normal meat. To be fair when you were biting into it mixed with other things on a burger you don't notice it as much, but it still doesn't taste particularly good. Especially when I got to the last couple of bites where by that point it was mostly that fake meat and bread, and by itself that shit tastes worse than the cheap ass burgers they served for lunch back when I was in school.
