SwimOdin Posted Thursday at 01:08 PM Posted Thursday at 01:08 PM Joro spiders are an Asian spider that were introduced to Georgia in 2014 and are spreading around the southeast. They’re non-aggressive and their venom is equivalent to a bee sting. They’re huge as hell, though, and there are now four of them on the periphery of my house, so I’m planning to burn it down. Also that is not my hand. 3 Quote
André Toulon Posted Thursday at 01:24 PM Posted Thursday at 01:24 PM We started getting those (or a reasonable facsimile) after Katrina. We called the banana spiders. They would build these huge webs between points of destruction, so you'd either hit this web before you see the spider, or see the spider just dead ass floating in the sky, then realize it has a web spanning between these two trees. Anyway, here's me and my sister discussing our continuous trauma this morning 6 Quote
Doom Metal Alchemist Posted Thursday at 02:03 PM Posted Thursday at 02:03 PM I'm in the middle of watching Jojo's Bizarre Adventure for the first time, watch it every single night before bed, and I can't not read the thread title as "Jojo's Spider." 5 Quote

They’re just too damn big. The one on our front porch is MASSIVE. I can’t get a good picture because I’m too scared to get close. 1 Quote

PhilosipherStoned Posted Friday at 05:25 AM Posted Friday at 05:25 AM Just a large orb weaver. Not one I've been bitten by so I wont contest whether or not their bite is more painful than a bee sting, but I've handled them more than a few times when I was stationed in Georgia in the army. In my opinion you'd pretty much have to literally press it's head down on your skin for it to even consider biting as opposed to just trying to escape as my friend spencer demonstrates here. he's also a spider whisperer of sorts though. He free handled a brazilian wandering spider one time and made it out to be a gentle giant so idk lol. 1 Quote
