Corporation for public broadcasting to cease operations in a few months

Been seeing this news spreading online and it’s just…depressing

while this doesn’t mean the end of PBS entirely.  It does mean local radio stations and tv stations in smaller towns will be struggling to stay on the air

I already threw $5 at my local PBS station earlier this month but I’m hoping more consider donating in the near future

A small  monthly donation gives you access to the pbs passport service which allows you to watch a plethora of content from music artwork politics and nature

Losing that would be incredibly disappointing as it means one step closer to stuff like Fox News having an even stronger grip on this country

Don't forget CNN, MSNBC, Cspan, ABC News and several others not connected with Fox.

You're acting like Fox is a monopoly, trying to crush PBS.  It's not.

Did I say that...did I mention Fox News?

See, this is why you come off as perpetually disingenuous...You can't even wait to debate with the person who said the things you want to refute...you just pick the first person that strolls by, puts words in their mouth, then tap dance around your own broken narrative.

I won't respond again since this isn't your thread and I'm only allowed to spic and span your ass in your shit

You're butting in on something I said to somebody else, and taking that person's side.  What makes any part of listing competition to Fox "dumb"?

wtf do these networks have to do with the defunding and shutting down the Corporation for Public Broadcasting?
The only reason the OP mentioned Fox is because they are notoriously NOT news, they’re more like propaganda than actual journalism

If and when we rid ourselves of everyone in this administration, "The Great Rehiring" will begin.

Imagine the jump in the employment numbers (provided they get rid of whoever WH Bozo hires to cook the numbers).

I cant be optimistic about anything Trump related because everyone is scared to touch him...I don't think he would be building a ball room if he intended on leaving.

He may think he's going to be POTUS forever, but he's already in an advanced state of decline.  Not thrilled with Vance stepping in either, but we'll see.  He'd probably want his own people in place.

Oh, just look at he OP, up there, saying that shutting down PBS and NPR would somehow bring Fox closer to a monoply with a "grip on this country".

Nah, there are actually so many competing networks in this country right now.

That’s not what the OP said

What's the last line, there?

“….stations LIKE FOX News having a stronger grip on the country”

nowhere does that mention or imply a monopoly. It only implies that networks LIKE Fox will have a stronger grip on viewers

So, what IS the grip?  It's not like the audience is left without choices.

Yes it is exactly like that in more rural areas the choices go from local publicly funded stations to networks like Fox

Why does Fox have to be your example?

RT, NHK, CBS and more can be available, even when you don't have cable and yes, even in rural areas when you spring for a decent receiver with strong sensitivity.

Fox News argued in court that it had an absolute first amendment right to tell it's audience what they want to hear even if untrue, so viewers don't switch the tv to newsmax. And because that's a terrible argument in a defamation case, Fox settled the morning of the trial and never had to air to it's audience that statement it published admitting that it aired blatant defamatory lies that these people continue to believe to this very day.
