There were the protests over I/P but it wasn’t a constant thing and college campus protests aside, they didn’t devolve into riots like under Trump. His last presidency was the same fuckin thing. It’s like they want a reason to attack people 5 Quote

Dark_Cloud_Overhead Posted June 12 Posted June 12 (edited) They're really getting carried away now. First they arrest a democratic mayor (without filing any charges against him later on), a congresswoman (who they did file charges against), and now they treat a senator like this. Oh and then there's saying governor Newsom should be arrested for the crime of *gasp* being elected. This is just plain pathetic. The house speaker of course treating Padilla, the victim here, like he was somehow at fault saying he should maybe be censured. Sigh. And Noem is just flat out lying saying he didn't identify himself, when there's tape showing he very clearly did. There's just no bottom they won't sink to. XD XD XD yeah...right. Special needs people Seriously, this is my honest guess It's based on history, mainly the incident around Atalissa, Iowa https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2013/05/01/abused-disabled-iowa-plant-workers-awarded-240m/2126651/ There is also a short film about it on youtube called "the boys of Atalissa" the TL:DR (I haven't watched the video since the beginning of the semester, so it's not going to be 100% accurate) -during WWII there was a shortage of workers. They passed a law that allowed people from Mexico to cross the border for work and then return, daily -Sometime around in the 50's-60's they repealed this law and they don't come out and say it, but farmers were missing their cheap labor -One guy hired a bunch of special needs people with the promise they would receive pay and be able to live on his farm, eventually retiring there. Their food and rent would be taken out of their checks (everyone can see where this is going, right?) -They shipped some to Atalissa, Iowa where they were supposedly treated well at first -Eventually new people took over the house they were staying at, and it went downhill -One finally retired and his sister found out he only had about $40-70 in savings, she called some people and the house was raided -they were found basically living in filth. Everything was covered in mold, there was feces on the floor 3 2 Quote

It is quite obvious he has no idea what the hell he is doing, and one doesn't even need to dig deep beneath the surface. Of course, that doesn't mean he still can't do stupid dangerous things. The stupidest and ultimately fatal things he's done is nominating idiots to do work they're not qualified to do. Magicians put a ton of time and effort into their illusions - one of the things I like about Penn and Teller's: Fool Us is that even though they're almost never fooled, they both show appreciation for the effort burgeoning talent magicians put into their acts. As all we all watch the political world, we can see the lack of effort that the likes of Noem, Hegsreth, Patel, and Bessent put into the policies they implement. Musk was likewise exposed as a fraud because the inattention to detail he put into his DOGE endeavors refuted the image he had created for himself while highlighting the similar poor workmanship in his new cars. More than just lacking knowledge, there is a fundamental lack of earnestness that permeates everything Trump touches and, perhaps not surprisingly, that's why Terry Moran's comment on Stephen Miller is so important. That man is a ghoul, but, as Moran pointed out, he believes in what he's doing. We're in a transitional phase with Trump and his monstrosity. The initial shock-and-awe approach was meant to be an opening salvo. He wanted his mindless flunkies to see that he had the power to implement his agenda and he had enough backing from the courts to suggest that his illegal actions could still work if his team believed in the common cause. That was only meant to give his fledgling demons the space to put their organizational skills to use and get the base mobilized to do their bidding. We're at the point where it's becoming clear that Trump's lieutenants aren't up to the task, and his bombastic tactics are going to start having diminishing returns. It's also no coincidence that this is all happening before the senate vote on his Big Beautiful Cluster-Fuck - one last show of strength as it were. Noem strong arming Sen Padilla might not have any impact on the vote itself, but it is emblematic of the tenuous relationship Trump has with the legislature. If the bill does not survive the Senate vote and has to go back to Congress, we'll start to see Trump's power unravel. 5 Quote
