and finally, this one actually hits right here.

Trump administration tells migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela their legal status is terminated

claxton chicken has a work program with 'guest workers' from haiti. i believe it's strictly those that came over because of the multiple weather beatings the island took over  the years (?) and those that came alone seeking asylum for the hoardes of gangs (?).

the plant has built 3-2 family homes, (they've been slowing the pace since 47 got back in), for these 'guest workers' from haiti.

i wonder if they'll look for local labor in the extremely high unemployed sector we have. give them this housing and a ride to the plant?

XD XD XD yeah...right.

Special needs people

Seriously, this is my honest guess

It's based on history, mainly the incident around Atalissa, Iowa

https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2013/05/01/abused-disabled-iowa-plant-workers-awarded-240m/2126651/

There is also a short film about it on youtube called "the boys of Atalissa"

the TL:DR (I haven't watched the video since the beginning of the semester, so it's not going to be 100% accurate)

-during WWII there was a shortage of workers. They passed a law that allowed people from Mexico to cross the border for work and then return, daily

-Sometime around in the 50's-60's they repealed this law and they don't come out and say it, but farmers were missing their cheap labor

-One guy hired a bunch of special needs people with the promise they would receive pay and be able to live on his farm, eventually retiring there. Their food and rent would be taken out of their checks (everyone can see where this is going, right?)

-They shipped some to Atalissa, Iowa where they were supposedly treated well at first

-Eventually new people took over the house they were staying at, and it went downhill

-One finally retired and his sister found out he only had about $40-70 in savings, she called some people and the house was raided

-they were found basically living in filth. Everything was covered in mold, there was feces on the floor

Trump strips protected status from Haitians Venezuelans and Cubans.
But I thought this was about illegal migrants, not people here legally?
jk I might be dumb but I’m not stupid. It was never about the legality. It was always about just them being here, period

Judge returns control of National Guard back to California. Gives the Trump regime a tongue lashing in the process

https://www.politico.com/news/2025/06/12/national-guard-california-lawsuit-court-hearing-00403910

from the article

A federal judge cast doubts Thursday on the legality of President Donald Trump’s deployment of the National Guard in Los Angeles, warning that the Trump administration’s contention that the president’s position cannot be second-guessed — even by the courts — evoked the founders’ fear of a monarchy.

“That’s not where we live. We live in response to a monarch. This country was founded in response to a monarch,” U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer said during an emergency court hearing on a lawsuit filed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom. “The Constitution is a document of limitations.”

Control of National Guard will remain in Trump’s control pending appeal. I wonder if he will order more troops into CA out of spite

Of course it is, but I think the pragmatic reason Trump and Miller are doing this is because they need immigrants they can easily deport to justify their insane "3,000 deportations a day" promise.  It's always about results with them, regardless of how contrived those results might be.

Interestingly, it doesn't appear he ever officially ordered the National Guard troops, meaning they aren't currently eligible for pay, health care, and DVA services....

At the very least, this is going to put a damper on how quickly he can mobilize more troops.  Just goes to show that the whole purpose of these endeavors is optics and political theater - a facade.

Trump has no understanding of logistics. It is quite obvious he has no idea what the hell he is doing, and one doesn't even need to dig deep beneath the surface. Of course, that doesn't mean he still can't do stupid dangerous things.

The stupidest and ultimately fatal things he's done is nominating idiots to do work they're not qualified to do.  Magicians put a ton of time and effort into their illusions - one of the things I like about Penn and Teller's:  Fool Us is that even though they're almost never fooled, they both show appreciation for the effort burgeoning talent magicians put into their acts.  As all we all watch the political world, we can see the lack of effort that the likes of Noem, Hegsreth, Patel, and Bessent put into the policies they implement.  Musk was likewise exposed as a fraud because the inattention to detail he put into his DOGE endeavors refuted the image he had created for himself while highlighting the similar poor workmanship in his new cars.  More than just lacking knowledge, there is a fundamental lack of earnestness that permeates everything Trump touches and, perhaps not surprisingly, that's why Terry Moran's comment on Stephen Miller is so important.  That man is a ghoul, but, as Moran pointed out, he believes in what he's doing.

We're in a transitional phase with Trump and his monstrosity.  The initial shock-and-awe approach was meant to be an opening salvo.  He wanted his mindless flunkies to see that he had the power to implement his agenda and he had enough backing from the courts to suggest that his illegal actions could still work if his team believed in the common cause.  That was only meant to give his fledgling demons the space to put their organizational skills to use and get the base mobilized to do their bidding.  We're at the point where it's becoming clear that Trump's lieutenants aren't up to the task, and his bombastic tactics are going to start having diminishing returns.  It's also no coincidence that this is all happening before the senate vote on his Big Beautiful Cluster-Fuck - one last show of strength as it were.  Noem strong arming Sen Padilla might not have any impact on the vote itself, but it is emblematic of the tenuous relationship Trump has with the legislature.  If the bill does not survive the Senate vote and has to go back to Congress,  we'll start to see Trump's power unravel.

Where did you learn that? I don’t believe it. Chimpanzees might fight for resources but I don’t think they hold court or kill each other specifically because of resource hoarding

a real fun fact about chimpanzees is that the prefer cooked food to raw and use tools to cook their food

Live Science, BBC News, NPR. I fell down a hole reading about chimps eating monkeys [ they eat the brains and livers first while they are fresh... ] and they will gang up and kill their own kind too. I can't remember exactly where I read about hoarded resources being considered a strong trigger for killing though. I'm supposed to be on pain meds but they don't work so I'm just reading things until I get sleepy.

But all that reminded me that this thread is a continuing battle cry to eat the rich.

Drove past a house that had been flying a Trump flag, it's been replaced with a Smiley flag.  Started thinking about all the houses I pass that had left up Trump placards on their lawns well after the election, those have disappeared too.  Either people are waking up (hopefully) or the city stepped in and made them take them down.

Wait, so the slogan has casually changed to take America back? Or is it just randos doing it

It's an 'official' flag slogan [ one of many ].

I saw ones just like it on some shithead that set up a massive flag sale in front of frickin' Red Lobster last year [ because he was banned from the Taco Bell parking lot ].

And to be fair (which I think we probably should do less of at this point), these are probably fake, but this clown show is so buffoonish that it’s within the realm of possibility.

People are predicting Trump is helping Israel with a major offensive into Iran.

I predict that someone tried to serve him chicken tacos.

But yeah, he's probably trying to line himself up for some sort of 'win' by having something get blown all to hell in such a way that he can pretend he didn't know anything about it if it looks bad.
