by the time the cops were called the perps were already running. gone. per the video...HENCE, THEREFORE, WHICH MEANS....NOT in progress by the time they got coppers on the phone. PER THE ARTICLE.

they CLAIM passports were stolen by GUN POINT. but i don't see guns. 

and yet, while the video is recording. and the 2 people are running, no one is calling 911. so....no longer in progress.

Why aren’t you mad that there’s a two-tier system of justice in this country, where these guys are robbed at gunpoint and a CEO gets killed and it’s a national manhunt? You want to make everything a conservative vs liberal fight, but we have a class fight in this country, and the longer we fight over “nonissues” (that, while important to many, pale in comparison to the actual nuts and bolts problems we have), the less we’ll notice how the rich keep getting richer and anyone who isn’t is having their standard of living plummet.

The crime was no longer in progress when they called the cops. They were getting coffee. They were alerted about a thief robbing the van and one of the band members ran out to see what was up and that’s when he was met with a gun.  The crime was over by the time police got involved 

That’s how it goes. My place was burglarized and the perp was inside when I called the cops. The assailant fled before the cops got there. You know what they did?  Asked me “what do you want us to do about it?” So no this isn’t some sort of travesty of justice.  Cops are fuckin lazy and too busy to do their jobs once the crime is over.

You do realize, of course, that your landlord's property taxes are counted into the amount of rent you pay?  I mean, would he bother catering to you at all if he could only charge less than what he's paying out for those taxes?

Imagine Packard coming home to find out someone broke into his house and stole all his second hand bullshit, so he calls the cops and they actually arrest him because the items he described were already stolen and now they have a suspect.

But the reality is.... they'll placate him for a few moments....doodle on their little notepad for a few minutes and never contact him again and he's just like "what happened, I reported my emergency to the police but im still out of $400😮"

wtf is wrong with you?  You can never just admit you’re wrong?  It’s none of my business what my landlord considers when he sets my rent nor could I say “the cops didn’t do shit when my place was burglarized. I’m taking $$$ off the rent to not pay the property tax portion”. I do not pay property taxes as a renter regardless if it’s figured into my rent or not.  The taxes aren’t in my name. They are not my responsibility

A burglar is bad enough, but it could have turned out considerably worse for you.

So....just in this thread alone...you have shown your disdain for the lack of police action on a robbery no longer in progress, but think pawn brokers or police are seriously keeping tabs on every single random weed eater that gets drug in for a quick $20. I assure you, they are not.

Remember the Trading Places clip you posted in your thread about pawn shops. I would say that's a pretty accurate portrayal of just how much effort is put into finding out if a good is stolen.

That Clip is forty years old.  Things have changed since then.  Brokers still underbid, but can't keep their licenses valid without meeting the new check requirements.

*pooh i was robbed as well, the cops took the report, even did some fingerprinting, to no avail. but the landlord blaimed me. said i set myself up to be robbed.*

 

i hope you have that same pleasant experience. coming home to find your door wide open, and personal items gone. you fucking clown.

So, if your car is burning, you shouldn't expect the fire brigade to put it out because you don't pay your municipal or county taxes.  And, you shouldn't be allowed to walk or drive on public streets, visit the public library, eat lunch in a public park or even use a public restroom... because you don't pay your taxes.  You dodge them by renting an apartment.

Ok. I’m done. I have no idea wtf you are even talking about and I don’t care to try and figure it out.   I will say this one last time. I rent I do not receive nor do I pay a property tax bill. Yeah I can’t believe I tried to be normal with this idiot. He just keeps digging himself deeper and deeper just because he can’t admit that 1 as a renter in NY property taxes aren’t my responsibility to pay and 2 if they were I couldn’t just not pay it because the cops acted like lazy fucks.

In a million years I never thought explaining paying taxes, or not paying taxes on something you don’t own, or didn’t purchase would be so fuckin difficult.   Doesn’t mean the tax isn’t paid. Doesn’t mean the person doesn’t pay taxes at all.

I’m not changing my tune I don’t pay the tax. I don’t own the property.  I have a job. It’s not like I don’t pay taxes at all.  My landlord paying the taxes on the property THEY OWN is not me paying property taxes that I can magically withhold, according to you, because the cops were lazy.

Regardless of whether you pay the tax directly or not, you were still entitled to at least a more thorough investigation.  You're getting cheated by your government and you won't look that in the face to recognize it.
