OwlChemist81 Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 Tonight's the season finale, so that makes it a special night!! Midnight Tonight, on [as]! 1
Toonamiguy321 Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Who the FUCK is Frank? Why are they ending on this? None of this matters. Not one episode of it thus far has mattered. I’m angry at myself for actually giving this all 10 weeks of my attention. 1
Sketch Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Here I was expecting an episode where Morty frantically searches for Elle but ultimately accepts that she's gone. No that would be too normal for this show. Instead Morty lives a different life where Frank (the guy in the first episode returns) and Morty becomes an asshole after building a family with Elle. And the post credits takes us back to the cold open when Summer helped the rebels destroy the federation fleet which is apparently when Space Morty originally met Elle. The central theme repeated in this is there's meaning in the meaningless and nothing is insignificant. It really buys into it's own bullshit. 1

You could honestly argue that in saying that, this glorified fanfic becomes the antithesis of Roiland's nihilism and the whole "Nothing matters, no one belongs anywhere, let's just watch TV" philosophy. So not only have you alienated the audience because the characters don't act like the Smith's everyone loves (and there was a lot of love in that room yesterday, make no mistake), you've contradicted the main philosophical tenant of the show and the source of a lot of the gags since it informs how everyone acts. This is probably why no one bought this up at the Rick and Morty panel yesterday. It's also why this is probably not getting a sequel. 1
OwlChemist81 Posted October 18, 2024 Author Posted October 18, 2024 Well, they said Season Finale, so I guess a second season is already in the works. Isn't that right, Fena, Blade Runner, and Shenmue? 😉🫠🤣 Ummm...yeah. "SEASON" finale. Sure, ya filthy write-offs! 🙄 Hopefully this drama-laced timey wimey mess follows in their footsteps! 1
OwlChemist81 Posted October 20, 2024 Author Posted October 20, 2024 Seriously, TOM and SARA? Y'all air 3 season/series finales in one night and you had NOTHING special to say about that!? Disappointed...

A shame, I woulda watched season 2's of both of those. Fena ended up a lot smaller in scale than I expected but a season 2 could have changed that even if the last few were weaker than the first two thirds of the show. And Shenmue was a lot of fun, kinda shocked it's not continuing with or without Cartoon Network/WB since it's ultimately Sega's. Edited October 20, 2024 by DangerMouse 1 1
OwlChemist81 Posted October 20, 2024 Author Posted October 20, 2024 Edited to add Blade Runner: Black Lotus, since it also got the same precarious "Season Finale" treatment!
OwlChemist81 Posted October 20, 2024 Author Posted October 20, 2024 One stylistic choice I liked about this show was the use of light outlines. Might be unique only to this show. 1

Oh yeah, that's right! Probably my favorite of the bunch too, since I even watched a few of the reruns. Glad I saved all those, since we'll likely never get a blu-ray let alone a nice 4K blu-ray with HDR (it'd look so nice with HDR). Even the simple broadcast through cable looked real nice on my OLED TV. Edited October 20, 2024 by DangerMouse
Top Gun Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Well that was...certainly a finale. Out of all the shows I've watched, this was surely one of them. 1

DangerMouse Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 (edited) Rather liked the art style, but this needed a different director, since I'm not sure what they were going for. Also, was hoping for more serialized storytelling from this anime version. Edited October 20, 2024 by DangerMouse

naraku360 Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Just have to say, lately I've been coming across tons of weird little cosmic coincidences. Most involve names, dates, or media. I bring it up here because a significant part of that is the Xenoblade series. One of the writer's on this was named Tetsuya Takahashi. Complete coincidence, that's also the name of Xenoblade's creator (completely different person). These both are heavily focused on multiverses. Rick and Morty has been a running joke in my friend group. My best friend and I have been on the haterade since season 2 and Pickle Rick is so unbelievably dumb, that it's looped around to its own idiotic meme status. My soulmate (probably), who is the center of this cosmic shit, is in a video of a poetry reading I saw nearly 10 years ago. I've never brought up the video, but her performance in it was one of the most important things toward me eventually having way more than a crush on her. At one point, she gets excited to tell an audience member, as she put it, "the joke about the pickle." The video doesn't have her tell the joke. I need to know the joke about the pickle. If the joke involves turning himself into a pickle, I'm actually going to lose my fucking mind. Spoiler If I have a spiritual connection to Rick and Morty, please shoot me. 1
