Greeny Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 So what car should I buy after it fails spectacularly? 1 Quote
UwPp Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 That's how I'm feeling coming Saturday when I can't afford to get my muffler fixed. 1 Quote

Vamped Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 Dang ... the city got into an argument with the EPA about who was supposed to be funding the vehicle inspection centers and .... they just stopped doing them here. You just get your license plate and renew your tags every year 1 Quote

Insipid Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 I personally like that annual inspections are required in my state. Used cars are less risky to purchase, for one thing. Quote

Like I said, I bet you'll need to get it replaced every few years so one with a lifetime warranty is almost required. 1 Quote

Greeny Posted June 10, 2024 Author Posted June 10, 2024 It needs a few hundreds of dollars worth of work but it'll pass but this is going to be the last one. I'm finally starting to consider buying a new car for the first time. Quote

NSAID Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 I can't drive, but I moved away from PA to a state that doesn't do inspections and I'm still amazed at some of the shit I see on the road. Like I saw a car with the little for sale info written in the window that you could hear whining for half a mile and that looked legitimately like it had caught fire at some point. Also it's not uncommon to see cars that broke down in the middle of the road and are just abandoned for weeks til someone tows it away, which I never saw in PA Quote

UwPp Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 If it's just you most of the time in the vehicle, I suggest some sedan. But I drive an equinox and be an aunt to 6 kids plus I like to travel. So I like the roominess of it. Quote

I just like being low to the ground and it just feels zippier to me. Though I have been thinking about getting a truck just for the utility. It might even help me find a side job that I can just do when I have free time. 1 Quote

Rogue_Alphonse Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 I still ride the wave of ways around inspection (except my truck, because its new enough to just pass). Really because of emissions. And some states only have emissions. Like sure, a kid ran out in the street after a ball and my clapped out shitbox lost brakes and murdered the kid, but at least it had catalytic converters. Quote
