My car is getting inspected today.

That's how I'm feeling coming Saturday when I can't afford to get my muffler fixed.

I've had to get mine replaced every few years. Luckily I got the lifetime warranty the first time. They don't last long at all anymore, at least in my experience.

Dang ... the city got into an argument with the EPA about who was supposed to be funding the vehicle inspection centers and .... they just stopped doing them here. You just get your license plate and renew your tags every year

I personally like that annual inspections are required in my state. Used cars are less risky to purchase, for one thing.

Agreed. I usually don't even know anything is wrong until a mechanic tells me, unless it's something really obvious.

This is the first time I've had to get it fixed. It's a 17. Got it in 2021. But because i drove from FL and back multiple times I'm up to 89k miles. So I'm like do I want another car loan orrrrr?

🤣🤣no that’s a package deal when you sign the paperwork

Oh. Well I still don't like them. My brother used to have one and I drove it quite a few times and I couldn't stand it.

Just replace the muffler. Like I said, I bet you'll need to get it replaced every few years so one with a lifetime warranty is almost required.

I can't drive, but I moved away from PA to a state that doesn't do inspections and I'm still amazed at some of the shit I see on the road. Like I saw a car with the little for sale info written in the window that you could hear whining for half a mile and that looked legitimately like it had caught fire at some point. Also it's not uncommon to see cars that broke down in the middle of the road and are just abandoned for weeks til someone tows it away, which I never saw in PA

Inspections are a necessary evil.

If it's just you most of the time in the vehicle, I suggest some sedan.

But I drive an equinox and be an aunt to 6 kids plus I like to travel. So I like the roominess of it.

I can't remember the last time anyone was in the car with me and I prefer sedans anyway. I just like being low to the ground and it just feels zippier to me. Though I have been thinking about getting a truck just for the utility. It might even help me find a side job that I can just do when I have free time.

As a tall woman, I'm never crawling down into a vehicle again. It's only up from here

I'm 6'2" and I have no problem sliding right in.

Into the car I mean.

I'm only 5'1. But I like being higher up. Sedans I drive like race cars.

That's why they can be so much fun. And I'm not running from the cops in an SUV. And I'm always surprised when I find out how short some people are.

I still ride the wave of ways around inspection (except my truck, because its new enough to just pass). Really because of emissions. And some states only have emissions. Like sure, a kid ran out in the street after a ball and my clapped out shitbox lost brakes and murdered the kid, but at least it had catalytic converters.
