Haha what show is this?

I gotta say I am out of it with singing shows and opera in general

It looks like a talent show from Latin America or Spain. (Which is fine. I'm just not a fan of talent shows in general.)

Of course, I'm a huuuuuge Rush fan, and this song is becoming more and more poignant in my life. (And what a fitting song to end their studio career on. Extremely moving and profound, and it's from their only true concept album, Clockwork Angels, but it could easily have been a standalone song because of the message, which is no matter what you do in life, if you don't have the love and respect of the people you value most in your life, it's all meaningless.)

I think it's the Spain's Got Talent series.  It's also an old clip but I remembered I liked her highway to hell.   I didn't have the patience to watch the actual show but I like watching the clips, they usually bypass all the chatter that the judges do.

She definitely has a beautiful voice haha I am just clueless when it comes to opera music

I'm not sure what piece she starts out singing, it sounded familiar and I think it's from the Tales of Hoffman, the character is a mechanical doll in the first act of three acts.

I am going to sound uncultured but I had to look up what Tales of Hoffman was lmao

You, sir, have never seen my feet.

Feet and leg muscles and physiology are amazing though.

I do not really see body parts for their societal implications. I see the amazing biological design. Nature has a way of making things better than anything else. Even from an engineering point of view. Like, it is so amazing that it makes you think about whether there was a creator or not.

Like you will take a quarter of a BILLION steps in your life time. And if you remain healthy you will never need a foot replacement like you would with tires on a car.

Humans are also bipedal and have a high center of mass, so all the muscles in your feet and legs are always doing a shit ton of work to balance you and keep you up right.

It is truly elegant and beautiful that something like that could arise all on its own. It is arguably better than any man made technology.

But I am a weirdo and I guess I do not see things the way most others do? Oh well.

That was beautiful and you are not a weirdo.

However, my original point about my feet still applies. Actually, it applies to my chicken legs, as well.

I think the key difference is that unlike human engineering, nature has had two billion years of indifferently throwing shit at the wall to progressively get this far

Indeed.

But to me, that is part of the beauty. Not to literally compare it to human engineering, but in a more romanticized way, that is what makes it beautiful to me. Just randomly throwing things at a wall and the still being able to get something so amazing as the human body is just staggering to me.

I find so much beauty in that.

But again, that is just my subjective opinion haha I do not really know a lot about biology or engineering anyways!

And also, one could probably argue that it was human evolution that allowed us to develop brains and bodies that could ultimately engineer things. Our brains to think about and model things, and our hands and bodies being able to tinker and experiment and iterate over things and progress to where we are today, being able to build and engineer all sorts of amazing things.

Unless aliens or the gods literally came down from the heavens or something and forced that upon us, if you believe that sort of thing haha but nature certainly had much longer to develop, and it certainly got it wrong numerous times with specific species and generations over the years!
