Jman Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Discotek continues to give old heads lots of well, old material. 3 Quote
PokeNirvash Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 'Bout time they gave this one a dub. I remember being so confused and irritated at it not getting one the first time it was released stateside. 1 Quote
Real_AirCooledGirl Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Gunbuster is just NOW getting a dub? Why wasn't it dubbed into English before? I watched it on Veoh ONCE and it was subbed. I see no reason why it shouldn't have gotten a dub before Discotek got their hands on it. Quote
PokeNirvash Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Bandai Visual didn't think a dub was worth it, I guess. Quote
The1gairon Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 I don't think it ever HAD a dub!! This is excellent news! Quote

What did Bandai Vi$ual U$A think was going to happen? I never bought anything from them except for the Blu-ray release of Wings of Honneamise, and that was well after they folded. I had previously bought the Manga Entertainment DVD and upgraded last year. I also managed to find a good deal on the Blu-ray disc. 1 Quote
Chapinator_X Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Not too thrilled to see who could replace Norio Wakamoto, but I’m sure they’ll probably pick a good cast out. Quote
MasqueradeOverture Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Bu... but I thought the lack of existing separate SFX tracks is what prevented it from getting dubbed for years. Did someone actually find the multitrack audio masters? Quote
The1gairon Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 YAAAS! Why didn't Bandai dub it when they had the chance!?? Quote
OwlChemist81 Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 Toonami, you guys better get this... Quote

This is the same Discotek that found the original Project A-Ko workprint decades after it was considered lost and scoured the Internet and old VHS collections for obscure European dubs. If anyone could do it, it’s them. 2 Quote

It's old as shit, but we're currently in yet another round of Anno fever with the last Rebuild out, so who knows? 2 Quote
Top Gun Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 The original Japanese cast apparently re-recorded the series several years ago for a BD release, presumably because they didn't have separate audio tracks in the original, so I'd assume Discotek is using that material. 1 Quote
Martinman Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 I haven't bought anime media aside from a few manga in like 6 years...this might make me break that, and for a double dip no less. Quote
MasqueradeOverture Posted October 27, 2022 Posted October 27, 2022 A series of drawings haven't been so sexy before or since. Quote
matrixman124 Posted October 27, 2022 Posted October 27, 2022 Hand drawn jiggle is a fucking art. Quote
