Jman Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 Toonami show of yesteryear gets a manga accurate adaptation. Rumor has it this is also the next project of Land of the Lustrous’ Studio Orange. Quote
DangerMouse Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 Oh hell yes. Never got to see most of the old one and it gets so much positive buzz, so this could be awesome. Quote
PokeNirvash Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 Correct me if I'm wrong, but Toonami never aired Shaman King, even though it would've fit the block pretty well even in its 4Kids variation. Quote

The1gairon Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 "Studio Orange". i really hope this doesn't mean it will be a Netflix-exclusive like Beastars is. 1 Quote
PokeNirvash Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 Maybe, maybe not, but that does mean it will be 3D. Quote
Jman Posted June 12, 2020 Author Posted June 12, 2020 Also right now Studio Orange is a rumor since they said their next project would be “familiar”. Quote

Let’s see... Shaman King, according to the author is “JoJo with fighting game mechanics.” Essentially everyone uses Stands. Doubly ironic when you remember that Stardust Crusaders got a fighting game from Capcom. There’s been interest in a reboot for several years, but the manga ka was insistent that they get the rights to the original music back (the PV track is the same opening for the original series). Zatch Bell was on Toonami and was about this possessed puppet, thing? Never watched it. Edited June 13, 2020 by Jman Quote
PokeNirvash Posted June 13, 2020 Posted June 13, 2020 Evil Koko was best girl. Also, fuck Milordo-Z. 1 Quote
Jman Posted June 13, 2020 Author Posted June 13, 2020 Also, before they became a pachinko maker, Konami made two GBA Shaman King games that are essentially Castlevania games. Quote
CountFrylock Posted June 14, 2020 Posted June 14, 2020 can't deny the 4kids dub of shaman king had an awesome intro theme Quote
Jman Posted September 17, 2020 Author Posted September 17, 2020 New preview confirms it’s not CG and will be arriving April 2021. Potential Toonami show? 1 1 Quote

PokeNirvash Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 (edited) I remember Shaman King on 4KidsTV, but because I was more interested in their magical girl shows, I never bothered watching it. I did think it was cool when, in the first issue of Shounen Jump I ever had, Manta/Morty said "dammit". Edited September 17, 2020 by PokeNirvash Quote
MasqueradeOverture Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 I remember reading parts of the manga when Shonen Jump had monthly magazines selling at Suncoast in like 2004, and then seeing like an episode of the anime and being like "What the hell is this watered-down shit?" It wasn't just the 4Kids thing, the designs & kinetics didn't transfer over well. This looks way more accurate. Quote
ben0119 Posted September 21, 2020 Posted September 21, 2020 I thought this show was like Yugioh or Pokemon level? Why would Toonami get this show? Quote
Jman Posted March 4, 2021 Author Posted March 4, 2021 Well, looks like Toonami has been beaten to the punch by Netflix...again. If Chainsaw Man is Netflix bound as well, it’s going to be mostly those originals that were announced filling the schedule. Quote
PokeNirvash Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 Eh, I was never really into Shaman King to begin with anyways. My interest in the franchise peaked when I cracked open my first English-language Shonen Jump volume and saw Manta/Morty say "dammit". Quote
Sketch Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 I really didn't want to see Shaman King end up on Netflix first. It won't be simulcast here and I'll be honest I have no qualms about hitting the high seas to keep up with the Japanese broadcast. Quote
Jman Posted March 8, 2021 Author Posted March 8, 2021 This admittedly is making me more curious about Chainsaw Man. If that ends up a Netflix exclusive, like I said, Toonami's lineup this year will be fairly anemic. Quote

Their job is to steal Toonami's blood IV bags. Quote
