Food Wars! marathon on November 30, but lead off by an hour of premieres

First of all, LOL. This sounds like something Al would come up with. And secondly, for all you people who actually want Toonami to air premieres on a holiday (not that we already have a problem with that), you're getting a reprieve. Better show up in good numbers so they know this is a good idea.

Hey, don't blame me--I was hoping for Dr. Stone!

At least if we get that one in a full marathon on December 21st or 28th, I'll get a second chance at those episodes that I missed the first time, right? We just had Episode 12, so that would be episodes 6-16. That's what I'm hoping for! Heavy rain screwed up my satellite feed and subsequent DVR recording of the double-header of episodes 6 and 7.

Also, now it's pretty clear what they're probably gonna do with the 3:30 slot:

11/16 - Lupin III Part 5 Episode 22
11/23 - Lupin III Part 5 Episode 23
11/30 - Food Wars Episode 19 (part of marathon)
12/7 - Lupin III Part 5 Finale (Episode 24)
12/14 - The Forge Mega-cut
Reruns of shorter shows either as part of marathons or not after that. I'm hoping for either gen:LOCK uncut or Gundam: The Origin to take 3:30 AM in January 2020, followed of course by One-Punch Man Season 2. It just makes no sense to acquire new series just to play them at 3:30 AM. Could also give 4 AM back to plain ol' [as] and move AOT there, but I doubt they'll do that.

I think it's pretty clear that they're kissing Sentai's ass right now; the question is "why?"

If this eventually gets us Made in Abyss or Ushio & Tora on Toonami, it might be worth it...

... Toonami's been making some REALLY WEIRD choices as of late.  Putting MHA premieres at 3:30 AM and then blaming the fans for it instead of looking into the issue? Picking up an anime about cooking? Hosting a rave event with Crunchyroll without so much as a mention about the block?

What advantage would they have to kissing Sentai's ass? Is there a particular show from them they really want?

Don't forget not only did they move MHA from the front to the back, where it would beat the 7 shows before it... they then got S4 and had it air first. LOGIC.

Mainly because it's the first time in 5 years they don't have a Dragonball show on the block, so they have to start it with something.

who are these weirdo's that are apparently so busy at 10:00/11:00 PM On A Saturday night that these marathons are a must?

and if people are too busy to watch then why the hell is toonami putting a new episode of MHA And A New Episode of OPM Before the marathon

either you don't think people are busy and you run the normal lineup or you do think they'll be too busy and have a marathon

you don't just start off with 2 new episodes then go into the marathon....that's like saying they aren't too busy for MHA Or OPM but they are somehow too busy for everything that comes afterwards

and i have no idea how they came to that conclusion when it's still a block that starts so late at night only drunks would be doing anything at that time

They did this several times before you know.

and it still makes no sense....if you are doing a holiday marathon and aren't expecting people to tune in(hence the holiday marathon)why air any new episodes at all that night?

you can't say you expect people to be watching the first two shows and then dip out for the rest of the block

that's not how holiday marathons work normally it's "everything is a rerun no exceptions"

I'm guessing they don't give a rats ass if MHA Or OPM Underperform

because most of the time A Holiday Marathon is scheduled because they don't think anyone's gonna be watching toonami and they usually don't air new content on that night

the fact they are airing new MHA And OPM says they don't really care if nobody watches MHA/OPM or not because it's just a throwaway night

a throwaway night they are wasting two new episodes on

This is a left over idea from TV execs who still think people would actually miss their shows because they are at Grandmas house. Live viewers have been down regardless and we are at the point where the opening of the block only does (400 k/ 0.2). We have DVR, OnDemand, and the website. Plus you have 5 of your shows readily available online dubbed from other sources- do we want to give them a reason to jump ship and go there . People will find a way to watch. We were in New York last year and watched shows in our hotel.
This idea that people abandon things they are watching because “holidays” means less when people don’t really watch live anyway

I'm guessing that they're keeping MHA on so it doesn't miss a week and possibly lose momentum. It only recently returned to premieres, of course. I also don't see how you can look at this lineup and think that they don't care if the premiere hour underperforms. In fact, I think the opposite is the case, as they want their strongest shows to stay to try and boost the marathon a bit.

I do not at all trust Toonami with handling MHA even remotely well, since they had no problem moving MHA premiere episodes to 3:30 AM.

in the age of streaming  marathons are extremely outdated and i agree that when stuff like this happens you are just tempting the audience to jump ship and switch to streaming for these shows

just because it's a holiday doesn't mean everyone suddenly unplugs and steps away from all electronics for the entire day to spend time with the family

more so because the block doesn't start until 10:00/11:00 PM and most people shouldn't really be that busy on a typical saturday night at that time

the reason they use marathons isn't because "oh people won't be watching that night" it's because they don't wanna change the block too often and this one for example is being used so they don't have to swap out Lupin Part 5 until January

it's kind of lame because they really do try to use this "Nobody's gonna be watching anyways" reasoning as they label them holiday marathons and act like we need to catch up on episodes....

when in reality it's just to keep the block a certain way longer

if they never had marathons i doubt they'd suffer much but they would have to change the lineup a lot more often than they'd want to

I’ve seen people beg for marathons because they are worried that the block will take a ratings hit. It’s not like it effects their advertising revenue lol.  Same for reruns “It’s a waste to run a show at 3:30, they should do a rerun.” I’m like, who cares it’s on! I think it’s a side effect of caring more about how the block does than actually enjoying it.

I can see if you want to skip something like Rick and Morty because you can’t watch that ahead somewhere else and there’s MILLIONS of viewers at stake , but when it’s anime that is barely doing 500k what are you risking? We’ve seen holiday weeks do ok with the regular lineup. You don’t want the people to abandon the airing. I did for Clover. It started 3 episodes behind and now it’s more than 10.
