does the magic soul connection really bother people? as real science as this is, it's still about magically turning into giants....

The real science went out the window with the wizard king (not that one) who can control people and their memories and impart his will beyond death.  So yeah.  But now we have The [Titan] Force too.  Ah well lol.

I always wondered what the hell the meaning of that strange title was. Looks like we're doing time travel now.

I'm hoping that was just Eren accidentally intruding into the flashback story as sometimes happens with flashbacks in fiction.  If not, it's some sort of timeless memories that can see into the past or future and hopefully not actual time travel.  Last thing we need is making all the struggles pointless or undoing them.  Still, how much more do we want to introduce this story though?!

Starting to feel like this convoluted story is trying to give Kingdom Hearts a run for its money.

I'm so glad I never got seriously invested in this. What a mess.

I do wish the story had stayed more grounded instead of going the kitchen sink route.

Humans vs mysterious Titans... great story.

Alternate universe WW1 style German Society? Ok it's been done but not bad.

Magic leader guy erased everyone's memories with magic? Ok.... getting a little bit silly.

Anyone who inherits the Founding Titan inherits the original's lack of will to fight? LOL WHAT?

Now Time travel? It's a bit too much.

I still think the writing coulda done something possibly truly impressive if they just kept Eren dead back in S1. I mean, it's done ok for itself, I guess. But, something other than "super powered teenager single handedly saving humanity" would've been nice. A little more futility, some actual overcoming of odds, rather than resorting to magic.

Rating: 4.5!! Turns out there's even more to this Titan power than we ever dreamed--and only one episode left until the LOOOOOOOOONG wait for Season 4 next year!!

There's only one episode left after this?!  We're already almost done?!  Jeez, these seasons go by too fast.

I still find it odd that Ymir, who in the show started as a background character, is thousands of years old and was the mother titan!

I think she's actually younger, but perhaps was born as Ymir when the current founding titan died without naming a successor?

Just named after.

"Many decades ago, a nameless, homeless, Eldian girl lived in the streets of Marley as a beggar. Eventually, she was found by a man who gave her the name "Ymir," after the ancient Ymir Fritz and brought her into a cult dedicated to the worship of Ymir. She was worshiped by many Eldians in the cult. Ymir chose to abide by her new role in order to bring happiness to those around her, despite she knew that she did not descend from royalty."

I don't think it's so much time travel per se, but that all Eldians that ever lived are linked, like in the graphic showing all the rivers of being flowing back to Ymir, or like the Force, and that shared link is usually only active when asleep or when touching.  When Eren first woke up the first thing he said was, "Who am I?" because he wasn't dreaming of a past history, he was experiencing it first hand on the astral.  So when the Owl mentioned Mikasa and Armin, he was experiencing Eren's thoughts for a moment.  This is also why Ymir wrote her letter in blood, so that when Historia touched it, they'd be connected, and why Eren touching Grisha's Titan wife had the same effect.  Just my take on it.

Fun fact:  In Norse mythology, Ymir was the first Jötunn (who were not frost giants (that's a Marvel thing), though most of them were definitely giants).  He slept all his life until Odin and his brothers came and killed him and used the pieces of his body to build the earth.  Not entirely unlike the Titans in the walls...  :)  I kinda feel like the connection among all the Eldians sort of harks back to Yggdrasil, the World Tree that connects the Nine Worlds (or the Nine Titans?).

Jotuns for beginners. :)

Well there's the whole "to you... in 2000 years" thing.

I suspect one of the Titans powers will be the ability to send messages back in time. Why 2000 years? Guess we'll find out.

Yeah I think you are pretty spot on here.  Lots of great stuff to think about in this post.

My other thought that since it was a dream, the current character having the flashback/dream had their current thoughts come into the flashback for a moment.  We've seen this before in other movies, shows, etc.  Especially when transitioning back to the current time.  I want to say this happened in the Ted Danson Gulliver's Travels?  And maybe the original book, too, not sure.  But in this case it may be more than that and actually be something fantastical like you described. And yep, Titan Force lol.
