CountFrylock
at this point you have to be following Jason Demarco to know anything...because otherwise You'd be out of the loop and wondering why toonami isn't on yet this saturday at it's usual start time

rpgamer
A show so bad they had to sacrifice the tainted time slot.
The1gairon
I mean, the very act of NOT SAYING ANYTHING about a replacement for SAO all this time was enough evidence I needed to know that this was the case days ago. It's wholly unprofessional for them to do this if there WAS a show coming!

OwlChemist81
It's starting at the same time as it has since the beginning of July--11 PM. Dragon Ball Super has consistently been at 11 for almost a year now, and all the other shows have revolved around it like some kind of "fulcrum", which makes sense because it has the best ratings of any show on the block. With quite a few shows lasting only a cour or two, or being serial in nature, and some long-runners like DBZ Kai and Hunter x Hunter ending, they've really done the best they could to stay consistent.

The1gairon
Also, MHA is STILL at the ass end of the block. They didn't even consider it.
OwlChemist81
I don't understand that at all. One of the 3 AM hour shows should have moved up instead of playing Episode #57 of AOT again, but then again, they'd just have to move something else down to 3:30 in its place next week. Granted, it DID do well in the ratings, but I doubt it will do as good as a rerun. They better be pulling out one hell of a show to have pulled THIS stunt! The1gairon
By now I'm 100% numb to MHA staying where it is, or going somewhere else, or just being dropped all together. I exhausted all my invested care on it.
PokeNirvash
Quit trying to infect us with your crushing pessimism, Elfie. Look on the bright side: AT LEAST WE'RE GETTING A REPLACEMENT FOR SAO INSTEAD OF JACK SHIT. 2

OwlChemist81
That doesn't make any sense. Rather then pulling a FUNimation show out of the abyss, they...double up on...a newer FUNimation show, and a simuldub at that!? Also, the name of this thread needs to change. Toonami is NOT shrinking! Sure, this week it will only contain 9 shows, but one of them will be doubled-up! Spoiler What was that he was saying about Origin moving to 1? Looks like people with actual business acumen slapped down Demarco's attempt to Gundam to a more prominent spot! They did not plan on this, obviously, but rerunning that Attack on Titan episode is actually perfect timing. I mentioned before that the uber reveal mega infodump would almost require a re-watching, and now we don't have to go watch it on our own and can just re-watch it together on the block! Can discuss and ask questions among each other too, about the information we learned. My Hero Academia sadly stays where it is. Laughing my ass off that Demarco tried to promote Gundam instead of My Hero Academia. He told Sketchor on Twitter that was going to try to talk the people responsible to see about moving it back... then he went on vacation. Yep he was real serious about that. I'm sure he got right on it. The fact that Fire Force was negotiated down to the wire is... not a good sign. They should have plans and plan Bs, Cs, and Ds well ahead of time. They know when shows are ending. Yet they constantly get caught unawares with their pants down? And given the show isn't coming til next week and couldn't come this week, it most likely is not one of the four mystery shows announced at that convention, unless there was a snafu in the negotiations and they somehow recovered them just now. I have a feeling Demarco is no Roger Smith, though. There was also a tweet from Toonami Squad that claimed they have INSIDE SOURCES close to Williams Street that say Toonami is reportedly planning to premiere a new show, but plans could change. Is Toonami Squad the Dave Meltzer of Toonami news? Edited July 20, 2019 by ben0119

Yeah, I was wondering how the block was shrinking and there was no replacement for SAO, but Fire Force is premiering. I saw the Fire Force announcement before I came to the boards, so reading this thread after that was confusing.
OwlChemist81
Nobody has even mentioned on this thread that Fire Force is coming?? Yeah, there's a decent chance it's here for 2 weeks and then gone for God knows how long, but that's something, right?

The block is NOT shrinking! In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it expands to 10:30 (10:15 for one week to allow gen:LOCK a 45-minute timeslot) in order to give AOT S3 a full rerun at 3:30 AM. But for right now, we know it's staying at AT LEAST 10 shows until August 10th at the earliest, when Fire Force Episode 3's status becomes questionable.
