That sounds like the best kind of job.

It went ok. I knew it would be a gamble. There's a lot of waiting in line at theme parks. A lot of conversational time. It could've gotten awkward, but I'm good at talking on and on. All those years of camming. We had a genuinely good time tho I think. And he kept to the original agreement and didn't bring up sex or insinuate that. Like I was worried he'd demand it or something

Mine sometimes takes the garbage out for me and often brings yummy food over...but she also comes over demanding I garden in my yard and then saws down a maple sapling when I'm not around which falls on top of my wooden post cracking it and knocking the top off and doesn't say anything about it hoping I'll assume it was old and, Idk, the wind blew it off 😶... ... I live next door to a sour patch kid 🤨

Ex band?  I really enjoyed Whiskey Be My Friend.

One of the members started a shitstorm of drama over group text. The rest of us all left one by one. I can't tell if the remaining member is trying to continue on with an all new lineup or not.

The other three of us are planning on starting a new project together (as well as asking another former member, not involved in the above recordings and not part of the final lineup, to be a part of it), but the going has been slow.

Well good luck friend I wish you the best with that. I've wanted to get a group together for the music I do for years now, but it's even harder in some ways to do that for hiphop. Atleast as a rapper you don't have to worry about your drums, or rythm and other instruments walking out on you. Everyone I know that's tried to get a band together goes through that to some extent from what I've seen as well.

Getting the ball rolling is the hardest part.

What I told myself when I first started that project (it was much more a project in my mind at the time than a band) that I couldn't be picky about who I teamed up with. You have no idea what this specific sub-genre is, but you like my song I was playing? Good enough. That can bring in mediocre to bad musicians though.... but sometimes it leads to better ones replacing them.... but back on the other hand, you may become friends with one of the mediocre musicians and feel stuck with them out of loyalty.... but is that worse than never even getting the ball rolling because you insisted on only allowing in seasoned players in your chosen sub-genre? These are the questions I had to mull over.

Have you heard of bandmix.com? I found a few of my ex-band's members on that site. A couple others replied to my fliers at Guitar Center. And the last one made a post on craigslist in the musicians section and I replied to it.

That's some good advice. I havent heard of that website, but I have so much going on right now with work, and the training involved with that I've had to kind of block any ideas of music from my mind. As far as group members I really only want a few other rappers that can take things seriously enough for me to want to split beats into 16 bar sections with, and people that have atleast a working knowledge of most popular DAWS that they don't need instructions on how to record edit, and perfect vocals and sample mixes.

I would be doing mixing projects and working on getting a unique sound together as well as writing rap verses for beats right now, but I've been in and out of work too much, and worrying about my financial state. I've had some freelance hiphop producers want to work with me recently to, but it's just too hard for me to even sit down and write rap verses that live up to the standards I've set for myself atm. I think the next step for me might just be working on making my own beats, and maybe selling, and leasing those if I get good enough anyway.

Yeah if you feel you probably don't have the time to commit to working with other musicians in a group, it's probably best not to do it for now. It can be VERY hard to get everyone's schedules to line up perfectly on a regular basis. And to get anywhere you need to work together very regularly. We were always disappointed when we couldn't do twice every week.
