Never Getting Married Wedding Party

People are getting married less and less..or way later in life.

But dont they deserve a big event where all their friends and family honor their awesomeness?

So for my 40th birthday im saving up to throw my own FOREVER SINGLE party

Invited along with all friends and family will be the other halves of my failed relationships (most of whom will definitely come because they still love me)

Basically a wedding like reception..dinner..dj and dancing..toasts and huge cake just fo moi!

I hope it makes it to the internet news and becomes a thing!

*i decided to do this until i met the man of my dreams...but with my luck its still gonna happen lol

Aw, just suck it up and call it a 40th birthday party. 40 isn't that bad; I don't know why you kids are all so squeamish about it.

It def will be harder to pull the 19 year to 20 something year old men despite how young i might look

Hmmm i could make it huge and just not tell them its a forever single party...but i need everyone...that means people flying in and traveling from different states and i will be wedding level bridezilla mad if they dont come

i like the idea

i also "married myself" a decade ago 😐

the reception was eating surf and turf at the strip club. 😅 ive grown since then.

do what works for you, what supports your growth, and what your heart whispers gently in the essence of love and nurturing 🙂

This might be because I enjoy spending birthdays going out to eat with closest friends or family and don't want a party, but reading this made me physically cringe away from my laptop. I just...

Throwing a party for yourself.

Yikes.

What? If you're going to get the party you want, you're better off throwing it yourself, or at least planning it yourself.

It's like my birthday cake. I always make it myself, because then it turns out exactly the way I like it.

Baking your own cake I can understand. A party is something your loved ones are supposed to throw for you.

For a shower (wedding or baby) or graduation or some thing that's in a way congratulatory, I can see that. But for something that you just want to celebrate, like buying a house or getting a new job or surviving another year, why not celebrate the way you want and not how anybody else thinks you should?

I get what you're saying. Maybe it's just the kind of party she's throwing herself that I find questionable.

Is a never getting married party actually any worse than a come celebrate my divorce party?

I don't understand why either party would exist.

And I was referring more to the "celebrating how awesome I am" part. If you were that awesome, wouldn't someone else have thrown you a party for it?

I don't know why either, but they do. And perhaps if one is that awesome, no one else could throw such an awesome party.

I've never heard of that one.

I've read about them (thank you, internet, for keeping me up to date on the ever-lowering bar of socially acceptable), although I've never had the dubious pleasure of being invited to one.

It just sounds sad and pathetic to me.

And I'm an expert on sad and pathetic.

If you think about it, a divorce actually could be something to celebrate if you find yourself no longer trapped in a really shitty marriage with a really shitty partner. A "never getting married party" is celebrating.... life as usual.

I can see a get-together with a couple of close friends and a couple of bottles once the paperwork's been signed, but not a full-blown celebration of correcting one of my more idiotic decisions (marrying the asshole in the first place). But then again, I'm still married to the asshole...
