Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 8 Discussion

Recommended Posts

has nothing to do with this episode but I found something interesting about Boruto, aside from lee there's one other character who has no wife...

Spoiler

Gaara....apparently he never married and all his kids are adopted (they published a side story revealing he was almost forced to marry a woman for status reasons but he didn't want to (they elaborated that he "kind of" liked her Sister, but he didn't marry her sister either), so Gaara might be potentially gay?

Wasn't Naruto set in a kind of a primitive world where they didn't have electricity and lived in huts basically?

No, I think that's only some areas, because they always had stuff like wireless radios for communication. It's incredibly inconsistent about the technology level though!

Edit: And they seem to often not even bother using these radios when they'd be really helpful.

I swear this series is set in a paralell reality

it's like Hyrule and Termina

Hyrule: medival with a heavy focus on magic and gods with a monarchy

Termina: fully modern technology, elrtric guitars, in-door wall clocks, a democratically elected government

Naruto version of the world: vaguely mideval with very little modern tech, all restauraunts are small family owned businesses

Boruto version: fully modern technology, restauraunts are large capitalist conglomorate chains

it was, this is like an alternate universe or something, it has to be

no they had electricity and video cameras and vhs. but didn't expound on much beyond those implementations of it. power lines and video monitors were shown, but not trains  or video games or motor vehicles. in one generation, all that seems to have changed

electricity was used in very basic capacities, like lighting homes and cities at night. video and radio technology was used exclusivey for ninja missions. no tv shows. no video games, no rdio pop stars, no trains or internal combustion engines. when the anime movies itroduced trains randoly, it really ticked me off. but trains seem like a new invention now and everything else just seems to be a sign of times moving forward. i think it falls into line with Kishimto's feelings about the series moving from being about his own feelings about youth to his own feelings about adulthood and parenthood.

"when i was a kid, we played cards and hiked around the forest for fun, now my young son spends his time playing video games and eating hamburgers"
