Blatch
Well, this is the last show I would've guessed. It's nice to have another situation like with Parasyte where a more recent premiere gets reran at the bottom. This also seems to suggest they're not done with Lupin in general; Part V's dub is probably still a while off, but it could premiere whenever Toonami wants it ready. Lupin is a recent show, which should be objectively better than rerunning something like another Cowboy Bebop or Big O Season 2. A slot that late at night was pretty much meant for a rerun, anyway; if Toonami didn't have it then the block wouldn't have any less premieres than they do now. Would you consider Toonami to have "cracks in the foundation" if they had the same amount of premieres but no reruns? I mean, you can't honestly expect Toonami to be able to premiere a show in every single slot on the block.

I mean, you can't honestly expect Toonami to be able to premiere a show in every single slot on the block. I would rather they got back a classic like Outlaw Star or something. Obviously rerunning another one of their beat to death shows from their "library" would be much worse than running Lupin Part IV. Plus it's way too recent to re-watch at this point. Of course Bebop still airs due to Demarco's needing it to constantly be around as some form of security blanket. Yes, that would be considered a disk defragmention of the block, cutting the chaff from the wheat, Naraku discarding his weak demons, etc. These reruns water down the block and make it look bad. If it were more recent shows, showing Toonami has a real library, it would be worthwhile. Even though I'm not personally interested in re-watching Lupin right now it makes more sense than a lot of other things they could do. They didn't make the mistake of immediately running it right after it ended, and it's not one of their old shows they've run into the ground. But, this is just an outlier. So maybe it's not so bad after all, but nothing to write home about because as I said I don't expect this to be a new pattern. They probably just got a good deal or it was already in the contract for a rerun. I don't see them going to great efforts to do more of this in the future. PokeNirvash
Remember back in 2007 when Anime Insider hyped up the return of Lupin reruns to [as]'s Saturday block, only for them to pull it after four episodes? Good times...

Blatch
I was halfway expecting GiTS to start over from the first season, and I wouldn't have minded that either way. If [adult swim] were to make the 3:00A hour just that and Bebop indefinitely, that's just another hour of reruns I can safely ignore. Because running Bebop into the ground, running Gundam that most Americans don't care about, and making unnecessary, unwanted sequels with no original team involvement because you're an obsessed fanboy, sure is a sign of knowing how to program a television block. The only reason Toonami's ratings are being tolerated are because CN and AS's ratings are way down themselves. Demarco is slowly being marched to the firing squad by the likes of Netflix and Hulu. Change and adapt, or die. It's survival of the fittest. And Demarco thinks the answer is FLCL!

No killing time while Bebop is on. Now the only timeslot I have to dodge is Hiatus.
OwlChemist81
Of all the shows that have come and gone that failed to get a rerun, the one that did is LUPIN! Kinda harkens back to the old days of ACTN when Lupin reruns came on at 5 in the morning, just a couple of hours earlier. Maybe Gundam Unicorn DOES have a chance before its rights run out after all!
Blatch
If we're courting other past Toonami shows to rerun later on, my money's on Samurai Champloo. I also had that mind to replace Ghost in the Shell. You know, between that, a possible Gundam Unicorn rerun, and the fact that they'll always have GiTS and Samurai Jack at the ready, I think Toonami could expand all the way to 6:00 a.m. if they really wanted to. At least, I would consider that more plausible than it becoming a four-/five-hour repeating block of premieres.
OwlChemist81
I'm thinking an expansion to 10 PM-5 AM on June 30th wouldn't be out of the question. There will be 7 episodes of My Hero Academia out by June 23rd, and theoretically, Toonami could play them twice like they're doing with FLCL Season 1 this weekend (which will also temporarily expand the block to 5 AM). But consider what could happen the next week: an expansion to 5 AM permanently with 2 more reruns in the back! Of course, reruns suck, but second chances are great, so where I want this to go eventually is a 10 PM-2 AM block that repeats from 2-6 AM, perhaps in 2019!
