Blatch
http://www.animeherald.com/2017/01/18/crunchyroll-parent-ellation-lays-off-17-employees-following-acquisition/ ...yeah. This ain't a particularly good thing, guys. I do think it should be stated that this has nothing to do with the status of CR as a company; it's basically laid out in there that they're doing better than ever before. But I guess an acquisition of an engineering company happened and now they have to lay off a few engineers as well as other notable people who've been involved with the brand, including a major contributor to their social media pages. My heart goes out to all the people who were laid off, and I really hope the company isn't negatively affected much by this. It's especially notable to consider given how much they've catered to anime fans over the years.
ben0119
Typical. Too many anime fans are a bunch of thieving thieves; they're entitled, cheap-ass, so-called "fans" that won't even pay for the works they claim to love. Good job, anime fans! PokeNirvash
So... bad news is they were engineers, sorta good news it was only 17 of them instead of the 90% 4chan exaggerated them to be.

Chapinator_X
That sucks, they've been doing really good with acquisitions and their business model is way better the DVD companies who want their hand in streaming. The only thing is their PS3 app is glitchy, but that's something fixable, possibly by the engineers they laid off.

EyeOfPain
Apparently, most of the people laid-off were QA engineers, or project managers: https://www.reddit.com/r/Crunchyroll/comments/5oug4a/apparently_there_have_been_layoffs/. CaptainStarwind
Shitty situation, but it's good that Crunchyroll is still doing well.

HardcoreHunter
I wonder if this is tied to them partnering with funimation.
EyeOfPain
I wonder if this is tied to them partnering with funimation. Probably not, and just an internal change in where engineering efforts are being spent.

Rumb0
I hope Crunchyroll will update their existing catalog that uses BD ripz instead of these interlaced rips.
MasqueradeOverture
I hope Crunchyroll will update their existing catalog that uses BD ripz instead of these interlaced rips. Main reason I don't use streaming sites. Quality is awful. Crunchyroll's picture looks better than Hulu's or Funimation's services I'll admit; but I'm a filthy casual who watches dubs almost exclusively, so.... Funimation just relaunched their site, and I think they updated their video player, too.
