From what I understand it blocks the user from sending PMs to you and also blocks you from seeing their posts. I honestly don't think there's a particularly adequate ignore feature anywhere on the web. But most of them seem at the very least to be functional on their most basic level. I suspect the ignore function for SMF is no different. Also I accidentally hit "modify" instead of "quote" so I thought I was quoting and answering your post and I was actually editing my reply into your post. so had to undo all that, which is why there's an edit tag in your post now.
