What you got lower back issues?

I've had lower back issues for over fifteen years, but under management.  Lately, they have been worsening and the chiropractor wouldn't be able to figure it out without the medical imaging.  He's not psychic.  If he reads this and decides it's out of his league, I trust him to send me to the right medical professionals.

A) We've been through this before. A radiologist is going to read it. Do I need to repeat myself further?

B) If it's anything beyond muscle spasm, he's out of his league.

So, the chiropractor needs to see the radiologist's report and the pics.  I was given the pics on a DVD ROM disc.

That's the way the medical imaging service presents them.  What do you want?  Flash drive or paper?

Well 1. I don't understand why you have anything.  My doctors can send each other the images via computer.  Even print the images on that cool, see through paper........Why do you have the disc?  To enjoy at you leisure, or are you having to legit walk the images in to the chiropractor?  Because that sounds incredibly stupid.

Which makes me again beg the question, What kind of doctors are you seeing?

that's how the rent-a-radiologist offices do it. like the ones that operate out of strip malls and only accept cash. kinda seedy when you put it into perspective.

I'm going to trust you and assume this really exists because I refuse to believe Pacman isn't completely honest in his anecdotes.

Once more with feeling: Yes, the chiropractor needs the radiologist's report, because the chiropractor is not a radiologist. A radiologist is a real doctor who has done a five year residency in radiology, and who is required to take continuing education credits to maintain certification.

You have the disc to take with you to any specialists that you might go see. It's standard procedure - when you go to see an orthopedist or neurosurgeon, they'll ask you to bring the disc with your MRI.

Was the last time any of you went to the doctor in the 80s?

When I had all my scans and junk before surgery, the CT tech and the US tech said "here's your disc." When the surgeon's office called to confirm my appointment, they said "please bring the discs of any scan's you've had." And what I have looks like discs. So what the fuck are they? I mean, this was just 7 months ago...

Well... they didn't have any trouble accepting my insurance after I received an authorization number from Blue Cross.  Blue Cross insisted on having one of their doctors call my chiropractor for a discussion on why the chiropractor wanted the MRI.  Once that was settled, I got the authorization number and had an option of getting it done at the local hospital ($350 co-pay) or getting it done at a medical imaging service ($100) co-pay)  I took the latter and paid with a debit card.

Sorry, didn't see this. I know that health care systems and their affiliated docs can send stuff over an intranet -  the guy who ordered my scans showed them to me on the computer. The surgeon was was not in the network, so she needed the disc because she couldn't access the actual images.

Didn't mean to piss you off.....But that has never happened in my life.....Not even once.......I've had many, many, SO MANY images taken and I was born in 78.  Several biopsies, bunches of cat scans, Cardio imaging, and most recently images of my amputated toe.  I have no idea how transfer of medical info other than what prescription you are currently taking has even been my responsibility to present

yep, i took the wife to one of these places a few years ago for an MRI of her pituitary gland because she didn't have insurance and it was gonna cost like $4,000 to have it done at the local hospital. we drove over to kansas city, got full af on good bbq, stayed in a hotel for the night, got her scan the next morning, and drove back home that day with discs and hardcopy. cost of the procedure, travel & lodging, and meals was only like $600.

The chiropractor is old school... been in practice since the early 1970's and attends all the conventions and update classes.

No, I was just a little perplexed, but I guess they do it differently everywhere (Up here they don't give prescriptions any more - it all goes electronically to the pharmacy.)

True... my psychiatrist does all her prescriptions by electronic message.  She doesn't keep a paper pad.  I guess it's better that way.  Nobody can pilfer her paper and scribble his own script.
