2024 Presidential Elections: the schadenfreude commences

First step is a doozy…. -
Fierce.

It's not Big Pharma. MJ doesn't "compete" with any pharmacological compounds with the possible exception of even more controversial pain management medications in the opioid class. BP is far more interested in expensive specialized treatments that are typically necessities.
-
That was my immediate reaction to when I saw the headline. Granted, it’s apparently a really difficult thing to manage when you tax it like most states with rec laws do, but that doesn’t seem to be the holdup for OK.

Elon Musk now owns Twitter, apparently trying to run it into the ground

Doesn’t he have to actually listen to be told things? -

If it bothers the OP, we can split it off into another thread. -

Yeah, that whole tea thing kind of deserves its own thread. -

I like Buddy's solution to this. The whole point of calling it a challenge is the fact that it's supposed to be something you can't ordinarily do outside of a competition. On the actual Survivor, you don't get to pick the challenges you compete in but, if it's something you're bad at, your teammates will carry you through. That's why the next iteration is going to have teams and where the team works together. I'll explain more once the rules are released. -

Oh….. he’s from Danville? Either he’s a BATHL, or… *checks all the photos in existence of Scott* …the Zodiac Killer. -
I know.

Simple syrup is about 3/4 cup of sugar per 1 cup of water, so you don’t want to go much past that.
-
I have not. It just depends on what dried or candied fruit you can find. I have pineapple for instance that's been dried and sugared, and pieces of that work decently with a more bitter black tea.
-
You wouldn't be if you had that much sugar in it. My gf likes Arnold Palmers, which is basically just lemonade with tea added in, but she acquired a taste for sweet tea somewhere along the line.
-
It's not really tea at that point, though. I have this electric tea kettle that has an automatic basket on it, so I have a ton of control in how I can make teas, so I end up augmenting regular green teas with natural dried fruit. That's about as sweet as I will get.
-
I'm with you. I have this loose leave black, ginger, peach tea that I make myself and it's pretty good. Snapple puts the peach in a sweet tea, and I can't stand sweet teas.
-
I got the electric flugelhorn.

First of all, NYPost is a rag and, par for the course, that article was devoid of any concrete assertions beyond a vague timeline. Second: you can’t compare an obvious biased research trial paid for by a trade group with a research paper responding directly to an unsubstantiated theory. For one thing, an experienced and accomplished epidemiologist like Dr Fauci has little to no vested interest in falsely disproving a potential viral source while a trade group is, in fact, paid handsomely to disprove negative or damaging trial results. For another, the idea that the virus most likely came from a market goes all the way back to its initial reporting in 2019. The aforementioned study was initiated at least three or four months after the virus was identified and long after epidemiologists had a chance to research the plausibility of alternative sources. Instead, research was instigated immediately after the “lab leak” conspiracy began making the rounds in conservative circles. A more logical and reasonable conclusion is that such a study would be necessary not to disprove the likelihood of the lab created virus being accidentally leaked but to uncover the likely sources of that particularly heinous conspiracy. …. That is to say- like you said, studies can exist specifically to disprove or approve something, but that doesn’t mean they are expressly biased.

I get that there's not supposed to be anything off limits to comedy, but the way he goes after JPS in this is particularly disrespectful. It's like he's using her as a cudgel to get at Smith.
