  11. And it's one of the few times we haven't created said dictatorship. There are plenty of other examples of us propping up monsters to serve our needs, then leaving a power vacuum when said monster is deposed that allows an almost in an authoritarian leader that is almost as bad. Cuba, for instance.
  12. Like Buddy said, he's been at this for a bit. He's one of the boards earliest Bernie Bros, if that gives you an idea, and his original discontent with a Democratic Party that would push a Hillary Clinton over Bernie is certainly not misplaced. It's simply been morphing into an apocalyptic vision that strips it of its rationality.

  20. That’s not entirely correct. The point is that an image doesn’t capture the true essence of what it represents. Magritte, like his fellow surrealists, was exploring the use of iconography in art and how symbolism could warp under the intense glare of the viewer. In overly simplistic terms, the image isn’t what you think it is specifically because you see a pipe.

  23. And they also had far more extensive imperialistic reach that, opposed to the United States, was critical to their ability expand. We didn’t need colonies to fuel our industries, we just had to build inside our continental borders.
