naruto Naruto Shippuden Episode 230 Discussion
ben0119 replied to StarPanda's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
I don't think so, it is a version of the transformation technique, after all. And remember when people turned themselves into shurikens and things? Don't think it's just an illusion. Anyway, the Naruto wiki doesn't say anything about it just being an illusion, but doesn't really explain what it is, either. So maybe Kishimoto never did, or they neglected to put that in the wiki write-up. Some spoilers in this video, if anyone cares, but yeah, it's definitely an actual transformation and not a just an "illusion." -
I was a big fan of Nostalgia Critic and the other producers for a while, myself. Found him through AVGN, who a girl I was friends with who worked at a game store told me about, he was Angry Nintendo Nerd back then. Those Anniversary Specials were cool, had no idea bout the behind the scenes stuff with that one. But, at the time, my computer was so shitty it got to the point I could barely watch the videos anymore, and several things that were going on with the site and producers were pissing me off. It was decided that Nostalgia Critic show would end, which, fine... but, the show to replace it was pretty bad, and the first episode was a Dark Knight parody. Talk about creative and branching out! Also kind of annoyed me that they were going out of their way to cast a black guy and a woman in it, simply because there were too many white guys on the site, I guess. Either way, that show was a bust. Phealous hooked up with that one girl who also did videos on the site, and I guess influenced his humor, because his videos became less funny, especially as she kept appearing in them. Just remember her videos being boring. There were some other shows that lessened in quality or changed in ways I didn't like, and just, in general, I decided to say fuck it and stop watching the site. I had no idea about the nightmare going on behind the scenes, or that JewWario was a rapist (glad I never became a big fan of his.) Still liked Linkara though and would probably watch his videos again if I ever got the chance. I liked Marsgurl's videos about animation. Never watched the anime person's videos much. Read Right to Left was good though. Still watch Cinemmassacre and AVGN of course. But yeah, who would have thought that Channel Awesome was a video producer sweatshop behind the scenes with horrible management. Is there anything that won't have a scandal and secret dark side at this point?

Beaten again, lol. I either didn't click fast enough because I started the thread too late and was still finishing the OP, or it's down to that atomic clock you're running. Season 1 ends at 51 episodes instead of 52? That's odd. And I checked next week and the episode that airs is in fact 52! So looks like Toonami renewed it!

Black Clover Page 51 Discussion Last time on Black Clover, Vetto, a villain with more death/defeat fakeouts than I can remember, FINALLY died, thanks to Yami's dimensional splitting Dark Magic attack. The arc seemingly ended, with the entire cast having gone through significant character development and back story reveals, with the exception of Gordon, who was inexpicably left at home. The Black Bulls bid farewell to the water folk, Kahono's dream to become an idol still intact. Her voice will heal? Where do we go from here? Find out tonight, on Black Clover!

boruto Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 10 Discussion

Like I said they are learning to be ninjas, but still need to appreciate the people who help make the world work. -
I think Kayaba probably used himself as the gunniea pig. It's never been fully explained. Maybe it will be elaborated upon in Alicization. If he did have to make something as a stand-in, I doubt it's something anyone else could whip up in 2 years. Also I'm not sure if the virtual Aincrad world is stored wholly on Kayaba's servers or if some of it or a copy is in the game device. You had to buy a copy of SAO to play the game, but is the actual game on there or is it more like an access key? I can't remember. Not sure if it was said or not.

This is not a Gameboy, this is a revolutionary technology that interfaces with the human brain, putting an entire world there, and intercepts the commands you would usually give to your body and sends them to your virtual avatar. How are you possibly going to make something that can replicate the HUMAN BRAIN and do all this, to stand in its place? Produced externally? Maybe, at Kayaba's servers. There's no way anyone would be able to replicate Kayaba's proprietary first-of-its-kind one-of-a-kind technology, much less the SAO world. I'd also imagine the connection to SAO is cut once a user dies and the headset shuts off. Do you really think Kayaba wouldn't have thought of all this? It would seem it is you who doesn't understand the technology.

1. Kirito didn't die and come back to life. There is a scene in the books where Kirito imagines himself losing to Heathcliff and then psychs himself up and says it's not going to happen, this was simply poorly communicated in the anime. If you mean when he beat Heathcliff, if it was a double KO and I forgot, he would have been spared either as a reward for beating the game by Kayaba, or simply because the game was ending right at that moment anyway. 2. Nothing, but some people can't leave well enough alone.
-
I specifically said I didn't want to talk about Kirito in this thread, and to save it for the other threads where that discussion arised. I was planning to bump those threads eventually. But, you just had to keep pushing the issue. But yes, this thread is supposed to be about Black Clover, My Hero Academia, and shonen in general. SAO is most definitely off-topic.

Funimation signs exclusivity deal with Hulu
ben0119 replied to mochi's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Mochi is always Chicken Little-ing over everything. -
I thought we were talking about shows that went out of the usual shonen or action mold, not just what people didn't predict. In that case, nothing is a surprise, because @OwlChemist81 predicts everything under the sun. But I wouldn't count people predicting shows as them being predictable picks, either, because Toonami has either passed on or been prevented from acquiring many shows that would have been perfect for the block.

Toonami moving back to 11PM start time in January

Toonami is what's obscure now, not the shows that play on it, lol. -

What the hell are you talking about? Attack on Titan is far from obscure. It's mainstream as could be seen by all the new anime fans (or at least AoT fans) it brought in when it debuted. Neither is Fairy Tail. Guess it's ASA and Toonami's loss that they never got it. My Hero Academia and Yuri on Ice are both popular and mainstream enough to have posters at Walmart (and there's plenty more evidence of MHA's popularity besides that,) and the latter featured in the Olympics in Seoul. Black Clover is insanely popular, like it or not. Bleach held the line long enough for ASA to survive for Toonami to even be able to return. Death Note, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Robotech, all household names. I remember when so many were shocked that the "classic" Evangelion bombed in the ratings on ASA. The fact is, most people who watch anime don't watch it on TV, if they watch TV at all. They have devices like Roku boxes, Smart TVs, or game consoles that they set up streaming services on. And Demarco saying he will "be ok" if cable dies because there's a Warner Over-the-top service coming. Lol. All these greedy, shortsighted companies, in attempting to cut out the middle man and get their own streaming services, are missing the point of what makes Netflix and Hulu so popular. They have a GIANT selection. Tons of things there and not just what they make in-house. Like, I'm going to get CBS All Access just to watch one show? Lolno. Disney? After all the entertainment companies and their respective libraries and properties they've gobbled up? Sure. Warner? I could've give 2 shits. An "on-demand" Toonami would be pointless and likely not exist there anyway. As for anime videogames, they suck because they are licensed games, and most of those suck. A lot of "original" properties by "Triple A" publishers suck these days too, as far as that goes. -

Can't imagine why starting the block off with reruns and then stacking Naruto and Boruto back to back would result in something like this happening. And Hiatus demoted even further. -
black clover Black Clover Page 50 Discussion!!

Finraal can warp anywhere he's already been. So he can just warp them back home. He could also now warp them back to the Ocean Temple, since he's been there, if need be.
