I dont think its accurate to say people dont recognize they're suicidal. I can see someone not knowing they're getting overwhelmed by their depression. Its more to identify your supports and make a plan on how to access or contact those supports when the thoughts and feelings resurface. In minors you safety plan with them and their guardians. You eliminate access to firearms, sharps, and lay out a whole communication and supervision strategy
