2022 Midterms: Oh god, not again
SwimModSponges replied to Master-Debater131's topic in Current Events
No, honestly I think it's a perfectly fine way to go about it. Transparency in government? You've seen your congressman's balls. That means something. -
Well, no wonder the SS had info on the Proud Boys, they were in contact with them prior to the attempted coup. https://edition.cnn.com/2022/10/13/politics/secret-service-oath-keepers-jan-6/index.html Crazy how all their cell phone data got deleted.

I'm now seeing people claiming the whole thing was staged because "Why would she have a camera crew with her?"

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/mehmet-oz-pennsylvania-senate-campaign-black-woman-paid-aide_n_6348ccc7e4b04cf8f3769b99 Republicans sure do love using black people as props. -
Population. 90% off population. In 2 years. We're a billion crabs short. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/fishing-alaska-snow-crab-season-canceled-investigation-climate-change/ Love how they're investigating, like "gee, where are all the crabs hiding? Maybe under there?"

Hunter Biden has laptops full of child porn, not cocaine. Get the story right. -

Yeah, get ready to hear about Biden's "quid-pro-quo" with saudi-arabia. They're going to push this HARD. Heck, i bet this is what they'll end up impeaching him for. -

Grandmas boy. So... i don't know how well this one aged. Got some funny parts, but in the end its honestly sort of the "pick on nerds, no we're nerds too so it's ok, actually we're not really nerds but we're talking like nerds so its ok." And "woman character is the prize for the main character" misogyny. I appreciated Jonah Hill's character dedicating a large portion of his screen time with his face in naked breasts, but i really wish it had been Shirley Jones and Nick Swardson instead. It reminds me of an article I saw once about the difference between American and British cinema- essentially American old women in movies dont get to look "old". Its always "young and beautiful" or "young looking and beautiful".

"Tweet #TRUMPYES to @J6COMMISSION to vote to subpoena, tweet #TRUMPNO to vote against. Its time to make your voice heard america! And after this commercial break we'll be back with the winner from last season, and they're spilling all the tea." Sorry, been watching lots of Real Housewives of Miami lately.

So... here's where my ignorance probably gets me into trouble, so apologies beforehand. Gonna go reverse-wise on the points here. #2- being forced into undesirable roles in society is a symptom of the hatred, not a cause of it. I mean yeah I'm sure it exacerbated it, but antisematism was around way before... #1- Jesus was like, 6,000 years or so after jewish people split off from the rest of the middle-eastern polytheists, and a long time after like Moses et al. was being persecuted and shit, so again, this really seems like, well I mean it is 100% scapegoating and not addressing the issue here. Just kind of shifting the goal posts, exactly like the banking thing (exactly like the hollywood thing that came later- which, fun fact I learned while researching jewish oppression: the film industry contains a disproportionate amount of jewish people because when Henry Ford tried to start the film industry in new york he wouldn't allow jewish people to be involved at all, so they started their own thing that became more popular and culturally influential (like when MTV wouldn't feature black artists so they started BET and then rap music gained more widespread popularity). So again, stuck here with "People hate jewish people because of X" "But isn't X just Y moved up a few hundred years?" That is to say... I can't grasp the circular logic here, it really feels like the only explanation I'm getting is "Everyone in the world hates jewish people because a few hundred years ago everyone hated jewish people because a few hundred years ago everyone hated jewish people..." And I feel like even asking that question, and especially arguing back when I get an answer, can be seen as anti-semitism... I'm ignorant as hell. It makes me sad. But honestly I have no right to understand it, or be sad about it, because I'm an outsider to it. It's fucking weird man. I mean, I know you know that. But it's fucking weird.
