Obviously, I'm not tanning anytime soon. The surprises here were that the family story was that my Mom's side came from Ireland (not) and I really did expect a trace of Jewish (not) considering the Catholic Church's "convert to Catholicism or else" policy way back when in Eastern Europe.

Depending on the timing, Poland fell under the Soviet Union post WWII. Also, people in Europe are taught other languages. My paternal Grandfather spoke 12 fluently, according both to my Dad & an Aunt that confirmed it. I know that Ukrainian was his native language, which is not too different from Russian, and he spoke both Polish and Hebrew (Ukraine was subjected to Polish rule when he was a kid and there were numerous Jews in the area). I'm guessing that Hungarian might have been one as well, since Ukraine was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire for a time. He learned English when he came to America. My Dad didn't know what the others were, Grandad didn't want his kids speaking anything but English.

Whatever country this is meant to represent, I don't want to fall under their healthcare system.

My Dad opened the door and this stray, dragging a hind leg, walks right in like he owns the place and proceeds to lay between the front legs of our Black Lab and go to sleep. Dad got him fixed up & we became his stop when he needed patching up again. Stopped returning. Thumper (Tabby) Liked to lay in the dirt of a potted rubber tree. Turned out the dirt contained lead & poisoned the poor cat. Suzie (Tabby) Only surviving kitten of her litter. Hated to be touched until a few months before she died. BB (Russian Blue?) Old age. Butterfly (Tabby kitten someone found at work, died the next day - probably respiratory infection) Samantha (Russian Blue?) & her kittens. She died of old age. Mommy (Tabby) Old age. Shadow (Mixed) Don't know, I moved away. FM (Tuxedo) Heart Disease Monty (Mixed) Kidney failure June (Tabby) Cancer Nicodemus (Mixed pita) Daphne (Bombay) Likes to play fetch, but only red toy mice. Found out she has a UTI this morning. Forgot my Mom's cats now with me, Shogun & Precious, both Maine Coon cats, both black. No lack of cat hair in this house.

I'm not sure which is more depressing, getting potential job listings like this or "CDL Long Haul Trucker" or "Part Time Sales Clerk".

Not only am I waaaaay underqualified, the lowest salary of the range they list is less than I was making in my previous job, though I'd happily accept it. Algorithms really fail badly. A job title's task description at one company means something totally different at another. smh
