I take it back. I'm really warming up to this dub. Episode 3 is about half a second off sync though, but maybe they'll fix that in a week.

Uhh... I'm not feeling this dub. It sounds too sonically-clean for such an old series and lacking in sfx, and the acting sounds like they're just reading off a page. *Checks notes* It's Sentai. No wonder.

It is overall a better acted dub than the ADV and if you never saw the original I think it's perfectly fine to step in. The problem is mainly only for people like me who've seen the old dub and vastly prefer some of the punched up dialogue in place of some stilted, very formal, very Japanese lines that were translated a bit too literally in the Netflix dub to sound natural in English (a lot of the Asuka stuff suffers because of this).

If there's anyone you should thank for the stilted Netflix script and dearth of original actors, it's the crowd at the Otakon screen of 3.0. You did this EVA fans. You did this.

It's confirmed everyone was replaced. Again, I'll chalk it up to Khara banning the actors from returning after the whole Rebuild 3.0 fiasco.

We are prone to mistakes. I've made that mistake before. However, I didn't lose my job for it since I work for a local channel no one watches thus the stakes are extremely low.

You're better off making an entire pilot chapter with completed art and everything to submit instead of just a script. It's an easier sell that way.

Because (not at CN tho) I work in that department? I know what causes these errors. A bad end-mark and/or unsaved segment is definitely the cause of this and whoever was in charge of ingesting the show is now unemployed.

Someone in either programming or master control (whichever dept. ingests the shows at CN as it's different for every channel) didn't put the right start or end marks on the two segments of the file on the dubber before saving them in the system, thus causing this royal fuckup.

Did transmissions QC the file before ingesting it into the system? If not and it was just put into the playlist blind, that could be part of the problem. I can't think of another reason. Usually if commercials are able to play (as well as the next show) it means the show file was corrupt and either master control or transmissions (depending on who's responsible for ingesting the show) is at fault.

The first 13 episodes of Utena are dubbed better, and those are atrocious.

Crest Of The Stars has the single worst dub I've ever heard (or pretty close behind "Big Green" at least).

Blade Runner 2049 is one of my favorite movies ever (more-so than the original I think), so more Blade Runner anything is good news for me.
