  1. Right, just like Phantom Menace. But like in terms of the plot, I think all I need to do is remind everyone of the climax of Raiders to make my point.
  2. I still maintain that the alien mcguffin could have worked in 4 just as well as the religious mcguffins in 1-3 if the movie wasn't such a George Lucas-dominated CGI fest. Like I think the concept on paper was fine, but because no one had the energy or willingness to challenge a prequel-era George Lucas mad with power, it turned into... a trek though a CGI jungle to save a CGI alien who eye-humps Cate Blanchett until she turns to CGI dust.
  3. No one has to justify it if they're absolved from responsibility. Insurance line was a poor women from another country just trying to follow a script. Provider billing line lady said they can't challenge an insurance determination and didn't know/care about the network status of the nurse because that's an issue for the providers office. And the lady on the provider's office line said it was an issue for the billing office that already rebuffed me. If no one takes the blame, surely no one was at fault.
  4. without giving it away, let's say they've built an empire and it's the color blue
  5. my guy you live on the other side of the country, you're about as far away from my doctor as can be
  6. Honestly I might change just because they fucked up like half they referrals they've done for me
  7. They said "the doctor is unavailable but you can still meet the nurse practitioner." They didn't say "the doctor is unavailable but you can meet the nurse practitioner but it's a mystery whether it will be covered so check into it first because we surely aren't." In the grand scheme of things, it's not worth $1000 out of pocket just to find out I have a Vitamin D deficiency and slightly elevated cholesterol. WHEN I'M ALREADY PAYING FOR INSURANCE TO PAY FOR ME.
  8. Annual physical in December is rescheduled. "The doctor will be unavailable, but you can meet with the nurse practitioner if that's fine." Me: "sure why not" Nurse orders some tests, telehealth call in January to go over results. Insurance Notice: YOUR CLAIM HAS BEEN DENIED AS THE PROVIDER IS OUT OF NETWORK, YOU OWE $600. Me: hey I got this notice that says that the nurse I saw who works for my in-network primary care physician is out-of-network, this seems wrong. Insurance call center girl: are you sure you went to the same office? (Uh... Yeah.) I don't see her showing up when I look them up. (Well she was definitely there.) Oh wait I see her on the doctor's website, I will submit an appeal and send this link that shows she works there. TWO WEEKS LATER Insurance Notice: WE HAVE PARTIALLY ACCEPTED YOUR APPEAL. YOU VISITED AN OUT-OF-NETWORK PROVIDER BUT WE'LL SPOT YOU $200 Provider Billing: I can't help you, you have to call the office itself. Provider Office: I can't help you, you have to call billing. (I did and they said they can't help and to call you.) I will put in a note but you may not hear back for a couple weeks. new Insurance Call Center girl: Ah yes, your claim was denied and you owe the remainder. Would you like me to send you a list of in-network providers in your area?

  14. So here's my overview: We reworked the layout of the site and retired a lot of old folders. Toonami and [as] got merged and were elevated into a main folder (instead of sub-boards), and other media folders were consolidated or retired. But most notably, we replaced the sort-of-asmb-themed Noise folders. People associated them with the old folders and self-sorted, and it just kind of sucked as an experience with the drama and turf wars. So instead, now we have a vanilla "Current Events" folder (it's a peppier news folder without the inherent negativity of rants) and a catch-all "General Discussion" folder for anything without its own section plus conversational stuff (it's a more higher-minded replacement of old FFA). So that's like the "public square" of things where everyone intermingles, and the flip side is that people now have membership-based "private communities" for that underlying desire to self-sort and enjoy separate experiences. The two most notable are the IB club, which is basically an OG IB-style commune folder where people can post all the most absurdist or silly shitposts they want, and the Thunderdome which is a more true-to-form successor to old DF that pooh runs for real instead of as a meme. It's been slow during the transition (though it was slow moving into it) but I think that on the whole it's been a positive shift. More folks are starting to pop back in (and more importantly, stick around) and sitewide activity has gone up too.

  17. absotively posolutely I think this was the thread where he got called out on it: https://unevenedge.com/topic/31172-james-gunn-publicly-posted-photos-of-himself-at-pedophile-themed-to-catch-a-predator-party/ (it also has link to the original meltdown thread via the quotes)
  18. you know what that means, right?
  19. you've certainly missed a lot. just in terms of big elections, that's the end of 2016, the roy moore special/bucket meltdown extreme, 2018, 2020, 2022. by my math, asmb was around for 13 years and uemb is already at six and a half years.
  20. I have a thing about the sensation of wet hair touching other surfaces (other than like when drying off with a towel), just gives me the heebie jeebies. So by the time my hair is dry enough, it's irrelevant.
  21. i'm a morning showerer
