  1. Because he thinks (as of yesterday) that he can pull a Grover Cleveland. And also as a criminal defense.
  2. Here's the big question, does trump still do his "big announcement" next week?
  3. Here's another one: nonpartisan redistricting commission unwinding Republican maps, combined with abortion referendum, won the Democrats a trifecta in Michigan. Thanks Justice Alito!
  4. He helped win the Dems two likely GOP House seats that the Republicans tried to draw away from them. The reverse coattails appear to be happening in NY, Lee Zeldin lost but it's possible his coattails decide control of Congress, because NY's courts were some of the only courts to do the right thing.
  5. congrats @SwimModSponges

  7. I mean, look at what Desantis did with redistricting. Even if it all gets thrown out after litigation for bastardizing everything we know about fair district laws, it's served its purpose for this cycle.
  8. reminds me of the time Mike Bloomberg won American Samoa
  9. My recollection is that the GOP won the case because the Chief Justice unexpectedly died a couple months ago so the top court deadlocked and the appellate decision remained controlling. Something like that.
  10. I was big in the aim era, but I skipped the tinychat era.
  11. sponges if people can't read between the lines they need to go back to school
  12. I just voted. Because Andrew Cuomo shit on democracy by making it prohibitively difficult for (real) third parties to make it to the ballot, it was probably the simplest ballot I've ever filled out. Just Dem/GOP candidates for everything (on their main party line and on the Conservative/WFP lines). One statewide ballot proposal for a $4.2b environmental bond act and one local town proposal. I was out and back before my laptop could idle into sleep mode. It's disgusting that super urban environments elsewhere develop multi-hour lines because they don't have enough resources and then the alternative voting opportunities get challenged in court.
