  7. I'm carrying on a lifelong experiment w/the Total Recall 2012 remake. I only watch it on ketamine or dxm and only once it's kicked in. If I'm past the peak of the trip I won't watch it. I've never seen it otherwise. I've lost count how many times I've seen it from start to finish, and there's very little I can really tell you about it. I love watching it like that though. Each time it gets better and I have these mysterious deja vu feelings. It's incredible.
  8. I got stuff done today too.
  9. Nuuu keep him get a bigger box
  10. That's what this is about pretty much.
  11. Not quite.
  12. I liked your sores
  13. There's always the constant variable.
  14. I thought so too. Maybe when it comes to words and your OCD, you can try and remember that a word isn't independent of the author/speaker, and authors use words like tools. And that the speaker has one meaning in mind when using the word. It can be the wrong word but if you are aware of the author you know what they mean. Like... when i worked in the chinese restaurant, my boss thought when americans said "crispy" they meant "chewy" so when customers said they wanted their chicken extra crispy, he would pick out the pieces with more gristle bc he thought thats what they wanted. It took awhile to get him to break the habit, but in the meantime, when I heard him say "crispy" I knew he meant "chewy" even tho it was technically wrong. Wrong tool for the job, but it got the job done since I knew what he meant. Kinda like using a screwdriver to hammer in a nail. It's not the right tool, but under certain circumstances it can get the job done. Maybe that can help or maybe i just made it worse
  15. I was just playing around with that weaksauce part. I didn't really mean it.
  16. slang words kinda like new non-established words. sometimes they survive and become proper words. even if they retain elements of ambiguity. for example, you're the mini ghost. but what are you? the minimum ghost? or the miniature ghost?
  17. in that other thread tho you were saying they aren't bugs. when bug is pretty much informal slang. some ppl consider all arthropods bugs. like some ppl consider shrimp crabs and lobster bugs. others say all arthropods besides crustaceans are bugs. then some ppl say just tiny arthropods are bugs. still others say only true insects are bugs. if your OCD doesn't account for slang and the science of how humans use and define words, your OCD is weaksauce
  18. it's possible. I think it's too early to tell what's going to happen
  19. we could have a thread
  20. its not just 9/11. the us has been at war like 91% of the time since the beginning. sure after 9/11 we committed ourselves to, by definition, an endless war which can be a bit demoralizing to finally say, yes, we will keep kill foreigners forever. but thats like a tiny bit of it. internet and tech has changed the world as we knew it. every single thing has been disrupted. so nothing is normal. everything is new and different. there's no established forms of etiquette for this new world. and i know ppl still go out, but not like they used to. yes tech is progress and theres plenty of tech-utopians who can tell u why u cant and shouldnt try to resist technological progress, but has there ever been anything before that made ppl stop going out completely? in this new world, you can live and die entirely by the screen. it's not just that automation is replacing human jobs, every year more and more professions can be done at home w/a screen. there's more and more services to deliver things right to your door. restaurants and stores opening where you don't have to interact with anybody and it's considered a good thing. more and more people claim to have social anxiety. they just don't even know how to live in the world anymore. it makes them afraid of everything outside. including confrontation. idk if it's the main reason ppl dont stand up for their rights anymore. but it could be. w/e the reason, it's just true. nobody stands up for themselves. workers just let themselves keep getting fucked in the ass harder and deeper. consumers, towns, and government surrender to giant corporations that will give you the shittiest possible product they can get away with. and the products can be even shittier bc the marketing is better. advertising is surveillance now. and w/all the data mining, algorithms, and shit, they can make so much money off shitty shit bc marketing is so effective. so comparing the 90s to now is like apples and oranges. they're completely different worlds even tho it hasnt been that long. i kinda like to think the mayan 2012 thing actually came true. bc the decade before that, the internet hadn't completely taken over. like if you had to pick a date to separate pre-internet-ubiquity and post-internet-ubiquity, 2012 would be a decent date to pick. any different dates wouldnt be that far off.
  21. thats true. that's his gift to true believers. if you eat the popcorn youll see him coming to your town before its too late
  22. and thats why to this day every town has an orville redenbacher siren in case they see zombie orville redenbacher shambling over the hills to come rip everyone's balls off
