I have no idea why they did it, but way back when Adult Swim aired GI Joe Resolute, a surprisingly fun if violent OVA of sorts about the Real American Heroes doing their thing. Watching it again, yeah, still pretty fun.

Last I heard the main voice actor said the VA work for S2 was done. It’s just a matter of the animation from Mir being ready. I still think Gunn is going to take the show out back once S2 is over. I’m still hoping someone at Warner lets Creature Commandos air on Toonami.

They’ll dub it eventually. And we’ll all need to head for the hills. I still say Chained Soldier would be better, but it would need to be censored for Toonami.

Buffalo wings. I’m at the bar watching the UFC, and chicken and vegetables sans carbs let me pretend this is somewhat healthy.

UFC 300 is tonight, and that’s relevant because of this - Toonami has been pretty resilient against big events lately, because the audience is so small and dedicated that big events don’t register with them anyway. Still rooting for Holloway.

I didn’t think clubs like the NY Athletic Club existed anymore. (Some friends and I went to see a judo tournament there). You need a collared shirt and blazer to even get through the front door, and you need a sponsor to get membership. Also the place has an in-house restaurant and lounge, and is famous for training tons of Olympic athletes. It did result in a funny scene, the boys and I all dressed with nice shirts and suit jackets going through the lobby while a bunch of spectators in jeans were all shuffled into the laundry elevator to get to where the tournament was being held.

The Saudis have no reason to want the region to descend into hell. If the fighting is kept contained, so will the consequences.

Looking this over, it seems ceremonial. They want to make a big ruckus and kill some people, but they gave enough time and notice to avoid it being a declaration of war.

Gotta work with what you have. My guess is big changes will hit when Kamui ends.

At this point I'm kind of hoping they just dub something out of nowhere, even if Chained Soldier is definitely too spicy for Toonami. Akihabara Maid War? Something.

Crunchyroll’s panel was less about them and more a victory lap for Godzilla Minus One which between it and Godzilla x Kong, pretty much saved the box office from being a lot worse. Warner is up tonight, with the main event of that being Joker II. No word on DeMarco’s film.

The closest official word we have was when Lazzo did an AMA about it on Reddit where he said that he wanted shows to be funny first, and in the case of Metalocalypse and other more serialized works, he felt the focus on story got away from the focus on being funny, so he canceled them. Lazzo expressed similar contempt for Moral Orel evolving into a drama.

Mike Lazzo has gone on the record that he did not like it when Adult Swim comedies got too plot-heavy, and would actively intervene to make them get back to the funny or cancel them outright if showrunners resisted his direction. It's why Metalocalypse didn't get its finale movie until he was long gone, it was his policy that the show was to remain canceled and he actively refused to entertain Brendon Smalls's offers to just buy the IP outright.
