The closest official word we have was when Lazzo did an AMA about it on Reddit where he said that he wanted shows to be funny first, and in the case of Metalocalypse and other more serialized works, he felt the focus on story got away from the focus on being funny, so he canceled them. Lazzo expressed similar contempt for Moral Orel evolving into a drama.

Mike Lazzo has gone on the record that he did not like it when Adult Swim comedies got too plot-heavy, and would actively intervene to make them get back to the funny or cancel them outright if showrunners resisted his direction. It's why Metalocalypse didn't get its finale movie until he was long gone, it was his policy that the show was to remain canceled and he actively refused to entertain Brendon Smalls's offers to just buy the IP outright.

Toonami spring schedule change predictions and speculation
Jman replied to Toonamiguy321's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
DeMarco breaks into the deepest depths of Warner Bros Japan, comes out with this - More likely, IGPX resumes its run. -
Started Armored Core 6 the other day. Fun stuff, once you dive into the builds.

Crunchyroll panels at conventions tend to be more hyping up products. Why the holy hell they booked at CinemaCon, which is essentially a big pow-wow for studios and theater companies/owner-operators is beyond me unless they plan to do more limited anime film releases in theaters or Sony is going to begin leveraging the IP of the rather numerous anime adaptations they have in production. Speaking of, DeMarco may also be there for the Warner crew to show off the War of Rohhim ashcan film.

There was a friggin earthquake over here. Mild but still very noticeable and freaky.

Solo Leveling 2-10. I don’t know why I binged it, I just remember watching all the dubbed episodes while exercising.

This old thing was on VRV back when it was a thing. They actually showed it off at a convention to a fairly decent response. Never bothered watching it though.

Ussop’s actor did a double swerve, promising news before April Fools, only to reveal next season will be covering Little Garden among other arcs. -
Baki equals ratings, so this doesn’t surprise me.

Korean chicken wings. Korean places serve them with radishes instead of carrots and celery and cook them a bit differently. Still good though. -

Diddy is about to find out how good his work really is

Diddy's greatest strength was finding people to collaborate with, even if they all eventually left him. Biggie (who allegedly wanted to leave Bad Boy before his murder), Ma$e, (who abandoned the gangsta rap thing to become a pastor), Lil Kim (who seemed to distance herself from Diddy after the jail sentence) Beiber, etc. And considering everyone who was working with him either left or wanted to, it paints a damning picture. -
I think we can take this as circumstantial evidence that the Cartoon Cartoons program from 2021 (the successor of World Premiere Toons/What A Cartoon that discovered among others, Seth MacFarlane) failed to produce anything of value. Warner should be investing in creating more homegrown talent, especially since they were so eager to sell off Crunchyroll to pay off their debts. But my guess is the end result was so low quality that Zaslav whipped out the fiscal chainsaw and did the usual Zaslav thing. Then again, can you blame the guy?
